We had a great fun at our second monthly Crafternoon during the Tuesday Teas at the Department of History of Art and Architecture. Thank you for stopping by for some fun crafting activity.
Our monthly Crafternoon is a partnership with the Department of History of Art and Architecture. It’s an opportunity to work with your hands, allowing your artistic side to lead to explore a variety of creative expressions. Take a break from your study and let your creative energy flow!
This month’s session, we offered bookmark weaving with foundational weaving techniques utilized by many communities around the globe. Guided by Katherine Santos, our fellow for Indigenous Arts at the Fine Arts Library, participants learned to make a colorful woven bookmark with a design of their own. For an inspiration, Katherine also selected some books on weaving from our library. All you need is some yarn, a needle, and a piece of cardboard loom to make woven bookmarks. Watch the video for some tips!
