For our first book of 2020, I can't resist sharing one of my ALL TIME favourite picture books, John Archambault and Suzanne Tanner Chitwood's "Boom Chicka Rock" (2004). As much song as story, this rollicking romp around the clock is a read-aloud dream come true, with some of the most musical, rhythmic language I've ever encountered in a picture book. It may even surpass Archambault's better-known classic "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom", in my personal opinion. As the kitchen mice dance their way through the hours until bedtime - (What's that, a counting book AND a book about telling time?
