What kind of gem is Boomy? Is she just on-color enough to still be a Ruby or is she something else?

You know, it's an interesting question. The thing is, Boomy isn't necessarily Off Color in the traditional sense. She isn't physically much different from any other Ruby.

However, her interests and her actions classify her as 'off' to other gems and her superiors.

This didn't really come up in the comic, because my time was limited and I'm trying to tell a specific story but - Boomy wasn't much for team-work, and she wasn't much of a fighter.

She preferred to tinker, alone, with electronics. And that made her strange and un-Ruby-like, and thus got her ostracized.
