The Dale
I sat up against the tall oaken. The moons light shimmered off the dew that rested upon the grass. It was a quite night down below in Boreal Dale. I looked up to the sky, and then closed my eyes. I felt a tug inside my chest, as a tear glided down my pale cheek. “It’s only home sickness.” I thought to myself. My eyes remained shut.
As I sat there, I listened to the faint noises all around me. Crickets chirped throughout the field, while a coyote howled off in the distance. After a few minutes, I opened my eyes, and stood up. It was time to get to bed. I started making my way through the grass before I stopped again. I had an eerie feeling- like I was being watched. But before I could look around, two hands coming from behind me gently wrapped around my waist. “I have been looking for you, my sweet Rose.” I turned around to see person I needed most. “Oh Bjorn, not many people can sneak up on me like that, you know.” I wrapped my arms around his neck and smiled. “Is everything okay?” “Everything’s perfect.” His eyes soft and his voice calm. He rested his hand upon my cheek and kissed me. He has always been so tender to me, for such a strong warrior. After a moment I grabbed his hand and gestured him to lay down with me. It was a beautiful night. For a hour or so we talked about what’s been on our minds and everything that’s been happening to Boreal Dale. “You’re all I need, Bjorn. We could live a happy life together, and start a family somewhere. All I want is for your happiness, and if that means leaving the Dale..” “I can’t leave. It’s… It’s my home. It’s our home. If it wasn’t for this place, I don’t know where I’d be right now. I want to stay. Everything will work out.” I watched as his face peered up at the stars. I could feel his sadness. I grasped his hand tightly. “Bjorn..” He looked over at me. “I love you.. And if staying here is what you want, then I’ll be standing right behind you.”
