A&B in AC!!
Excitement and anxiousness filled the air of club Mixx at the Borgata Hotel in Atlantic City, NJ. It was only 11pm and DJ PS1 was already starting to get the crowd hyped up for the headlining act; Above & Beyond. Ravers started to line up in front of the DJ booth claiming their spots to see this much crazed about trance trio. Some ravers with kandi, others with cuffs and masks, glovers and lovers spreading P.L.U.R vibes alike all united for their fix of some ‘Group Therapy’. Around 1am as the club started to become un-breathable with the amount of ravers ready to rage, the LED booth lights lowered to create a more intimate setting for A&B to start their set. As Jono Grant and Paavo Siljamäki walked unto the booth these ravers went wild with excitement and yet a calming sense of serenity and peace filled the air. As Above & Beyond, minus Tony McGuiness, started their set, with songs like ‘Alchemy’ and ‘Blackroom Boy’ they left the crowd in awe.
As I looked over to the many enamored faces in the crowd I saw some tears, some laughs and some trilled faces but one thing everyone shared for sure was their love for EDM. Even with so much going on such as; the blinding strobe lights and the different song dedications that A&B writes to the crowd across a big screen during their set, it was hard to not keep your eyes fixated on the wonder that is A&B. Every lyric, every melody, every silence was played with a purpose a deep feeling and emotion. As a lot of trance lovers in the EDM community say “trance is what feeling sounds like” and A&B proved it to us all on March 15th. At around 3pm as A&B played their hit ‘Sun & Moon’ to finish off their set they did something magical, they wound up the crowd before the final drop for about 3 minutes and in those 3 minutes the feeling of anticipation was indescribable, then… they allowed some lucky lady named Jillian Kristine to push the button for that heavenly drop and as confetti fell and the bass resonated we all felt something that night and it goes above and beyond all words could express.
