At first you thought it was the dresses ladies were wearing that caught your attention.
They weren’t as flashy or elaborate as the dresses that Queen Arwen normally glided around in, but they were simplistically stunning. Your eyes would trail after the flowing skirts and long sleeves. Eventually, your eyes began to drift to the people wearing the dresses. How their hair would bounce around their beautiful faces as they walked through the city, and how their eyes would light up when a man from the market offered to help her bring her goods home.
Their laughter was music to your ears and smiles like the morning sun to your eyes.
You were able to admire both the lady and her dress, which must’ve been obvious to everyone. No one dared to call out the child of the Steward of Gondor when they lost concentration during sword practice or dropped their book when someone passed by.
This only increased in recent days.
Lords and their families from distant lands came into the White City to meet with both your father and the King, meaning new dresses from new places mingled about in the crowds.
Daughters of Lords excited to see Gondor were also excited to talk to the Steward’s child, meaning that you were just as busy as the King! A thought that made you want to fall into bed and never rise.
“These girls...” You sigh, your head resting in your palm as you watch these girls parade around the corridors and gardens. “Will be the death of me.”
You bite your bottom lip at their flirtation and gestures to come dance.
“They grow up so fast!” Your father laughs behind you as he slaps your back. “Already looking for a Stewardess, eh, (Y/n)?”
Your feet shuffle underneath you in embarrassment as you duck your head. “Father, you do not need to be so loud!”
“You need to make you intentions clear, little one!” He smiles, sitting next to you on the stone bench. “Women like boldness when it comes to a potential courtship.”
You glance at your father, unconvinced.
His smile is bright and his hair, while slightly grey, shines gold in the sunlight. Boromir stares at you proudly.
“Really?”
“They like strength in a suitor!” He laughs. “Ask your mother, she noticed my skills with a blade before anything else.”
The giggling stops abruptly, and you glance up to see them all curtseying to a figure behind you.
Checking behind you, you watch as King Aragorn approaches your spot. Both you and Boromir shoot up to bow in respect as well.
“Aragorn, my friend!” Your father booms. “I was just giving tips to (Y/n) here about courting a woman! Can you believe they’re already at that age?”
Aragorn’s elegant features break into an amused grin.
“I hope you’re not thinking of following his advice, (Y/n).” He smiles at you, grey eyes piercing into yours.
“And what is that supposed to mean?” Your father playfully raises an insulted eyebrow.
“Well it took you over a dozen times to woo their mother, so obviously your advice is not the best.”
You look at your father, a laugh threatening to explode out of your mouth. Your father flushes in embarrassment, and his brows crease.
“My father has left that part out indeed, my King.” You snicker.
“If anything, you might want to ask Lady Arwen or your mother for tips on women. Your father and I are certainly not experts.” Aragorn confesses, the crinkles in the corners of his eyes never leaving as he jests.
“I’ll see to it.” You respond, glancing as your father chuckles at his friend.
