Wilt one of his decendents: "She and her husband, Colin D. Wilt, operated the Wilt Trunk Co. beginning in 1930, with a luggage manufacturing plant on the North Side and two Charles T. The first thing that surprised me when I picked this up, is that I expected it to weigh 8 pounds or so. It weighS probably 3-4 pounds empty. They used a lightweight pine frame so as not to make that case so heavy. They then stitched over it a beautiful brown leather that over the years has developed a nice well-loved patina. The handle is exquisite; one of the nicest I have seen. Real brass hardware corners, clasps, and d-rings that hold the handle to the case. The solid brass corners each touch the ground before the leather does and this helps protect the beautiful leather on all sides. I especially like that when you have it closed with the handle up, it is perfectly flat and stable. So no worries about it tipping over when loaded. This briefcase has the true vintage look which is so popular today. It says without saying anything that you like quality and, are not afraid to be different. I imagine a business professional who appreciates the vintage look taking this to a board meeting. It is sure to get comments and compliments. It is lined with leather; this is very rare these days almost no-one does this anymore. It is really rare to find briefcase at upscale retailers that is leather-lined. Way to go Abercrombie & Fitch. You have truly created a masterpiece. The French sure know leather bag construction; especially the old-world craftsmanship this bag exudes. I have not modified this bag with the exception of strengthening up the back flap stress points; when I see bags of this era that is usually the place that the bag first fails and needs repair. As the old saying goes a stitch in time saves nine. I have my own that says a rivet in time means no repair needed. It is True Vintage Imported from France. Seamless Gussets - One thing that really stands out is the seamless pieces of leather that make up the gussets. Most bags are made of 3 pieces of leather stitched at the bottom two corners. This bag uses only one piece and therefore is more expensive to make because you cannot use a smaller shorter piece of leather. I rarely see this today in any bags after the 1960's. Exceptionally Crafted Handle - Another thing that strikes you when you first pickup this bag by the handle is the handle was built to last for generations. Brass Cheney of England Hardware Back of Clasp on the inside has protective leather so as not to scratch your MacBook Pro.
