Wazz up homies? A quick update from us.
We hauled arse to Melbourne again a couple of weeks back to do a show with Bornlion, Super best friends and Ships Piano at the old bar. Have never been to the old bar before but what a sick venue. A really small room with a cool vibe, and once you get a few sweaty bodys in the room its the perfect place to tuck into a few pints, view some bands and watch the clock fade from PM to AM. Arriving at venues in Melbourne of late I have noticed our name on a board somewhere that says ‘Captives (Tas)’.. and everytime somebody comes up and starts chatting to us about how they are from Tassie and have seen that this Tassie band is playing and they come out for a geeze..the (Tas) thing must be working for us.
So had a blinder. Bornlion were fuckin’ amazing.. the poor blokes drove from Canberra on the day of the show, rocked out and had to drive back in time for the NRL Grandfinal in the early hours of the morning. Rock at its finest and makes us want to work harder to be better.
After the show we stuck about trying to wave down a cab.. now I don’t understand these taxi drivers..one minute they are complaining about not having money but the next they don’t want to pick anybody up.. and thinking back now what a bunch of cunts. I went back to the bar after waiting for an hour out the front and just decided to give up and have another beer.. soon as I get a beer lordy had managed to wave down a cab and pay him off to take us to the hotel.. I decided to walk ‘cause I just cracked a beer. Shit idea really cause I had about a hour walk ahead of me, it was 4am, the clock moved forward for daylight savings and a 10am check out. Done it again!
Went home.. had a couple days of chill time, went down to Hobart for a show with Grim Fandango, Ride the Tiger and Isaac Bowen. Twas a Wednesday night so we drove the 3hr trip down, rocked the fuck out, watched all the bands and then drove it back home. Ride the Tiger were impressive and I got myself a Grim fandango t-shirt and coffee mug.. I could of done with a coffee on the way back but all I had was a mug. ah well..
Our merch turned up during the week and we started mailing out all our tees,CD’s,Stickers etc.. thanks to everybody for grabbing some from the store, its been really awesome to have everybodys support and we couldn’t do it with out you.
Devonport show was fun. Catchpenny hadn’t rehearsed in ages but sounded so bloody good. They have decided to call it quits after this gig so it was a real honour to play with a band that I grew up doing shows with over 15 years ago.. i’m sure they will be back again at some point :)
Lots of familiar faces at our home town show. Its a tiring night when you do the home town ‘cause there are so many folks you havn’t seen in ages you always seem to turn around and another conversation opens up. Great night here and even trashed the microphone beyond recovery. first time ever for that. woops.
This week we have some shows in Melbourne again. Would love to see everybody out that we have met over the last couple of months, new songs are in progress too..and we will have some videos up v.soon for you. Maybe even a new clip if you managed to read this far. Onwards and upwards
