Borrowerstuck Rose likes to experiment with all the materials she borrows. Different paints have different properties, and depending on how much water she uses, she can make every panel in her room look entirely different. So that’s what she’s doing: redecorating her space, and trying to find -just- the right shade of purple.
Borrowerstuck Jade takes planning her routes outside pretty seriously. Mostly because now and then, they’re changed entirely by humans and previously safe routes become unsafe, or plants are relocated in the gardens. Tired Jade is tired because aside from this there was a kerfluffle with the power sources and some things needed stealthy soldering. Work is never done during busy seasons.
Having some thoughts for my Borrowerstuck AU.
A long time ago I said human AND troll borrowers, but it’s a tossup really. Most of the trolls I imagine are the one’s being borrowed FROM. But I can definitely a see the trolls being Borrowers as well. Beforus trolls, though they’d not live in the same compound. It would be quite a journey to go visit their homestead, but the pickings are prime. For now, let’s focus on the Alpha Beta borrowers and the first half of the trolls..
Where the Alpha Beta’s live is flush with things to borrow, but also full of risks, same as anywhere else.
And finally, borrowerstuck Roxy! Changed her outfit a lot from last time, gave it a bit more thought. She’s not shown with a bag because, depending on who needs her help, she might not need one. That and there’s always a strange propensity to find the perfect carrying apparatus wherever she goes. Is best of the group at appearing and disappearing when needed, so stealthier things do her fairly fine. Usually. Copy pasta of original profile:
Roxy’s the only one of the group that’s able to handle cats when they come hunting and lurking. Like Jade, she deals with the electricity and other systems they make use of, but unlike Jade she’s anything but serious.
She is also, occasionally, why the rum is gone.
Not just from drinking though, no worries. There’s a -lot- of uses for different alcohols and vinegar, and she’s the one who can handle getting samples from the bottles when needs be without detection. She also collects makeup, but tends to accidentally break the powders in compacts by stepping on them. Whoops.
With no fear of darkness, she’s a pro at securing and maintaining travel pathways throughout the building and out to the garden, and has been known to punch mice and even rats square in the snouts rather than be afraid of them at all like she should be.
She has her room nestled between the walls of the kitchen and the living room, in order to be right through the most traveled route the others use. Her room acts as a check in station, with herself acting as backup if someone nearly gets caught, gets injured, or doesn’t hear a human approaching.
Borrowerstuck!Jake. What a sweetie.
Jake plays things safe mostly, only borrowing at night. Doesn’t help that whenever the local mice have babies that he’s their #1 favorite plaything. Same with insects. He’s got an attachment for frogs and enjoys feeding them flies that get stuck in webs around the burrows.
He’s the only borrower who, instead of watching movies with Jade or the others, is known to lurk in living rooms and bedrooms when humans are watching television. It’s pretty easy to remotely change channels or volume levels from a distance to suit his needs, and he finds -fantastic- new and old movies this way!
Jake spends his borrowing time outdoors instead of in unless he needs bits and pieces and components for his own tinkering. He has an attachment with Dirk’s occasionally terrifying automated borrower experiments, and is partly responsible for shorting out the electricity so often.
Prone to outbursts that he quickly recants on, fan of physical strength, and the only borrower not to rappel. He uses two pushpins to get around, relying on his upper body mostly, and only applying sticky tape to his feet rarely. Boots are specially made by Rose, with a tiny bit of velcro securing them tight around his ankles so the use of the tape doesn’t pop them off.
borrowerstuck!Jane.
You want something cooked? You come to Jane. You want to get your ass kicked? You come to Jane. Aside from John, she’s the one who keeps the borrowers fed, making meals from whatever odds and ends they can manage to keep in stock. She reminds everyone to stop what they’re doing and eat once in a while, or sleep, and has one hell of a varied tea repertoire thanks to Jade’s outdoor adventures with Bec.
She is also a terrible personal hoarder who loves her creature comforts, with a penchant for soft surfaces and very sweet smells. A cupcake scented candle is her prized possession lurking in her room, with the other being her measuring spoon. It weighs a good deal, but it’s also perfect for measuring with when she goes gathering with the others. One scoop is enough sugar and salt for a month. One scoop is enough flour for a lot of bread and crackers. Jane is so used to toting the spoon around that, to her, it’s light as a feather.
She is the only borrower brave enough to try cooking in the kitchen of the humans, once in a great while making use of their stove eye or toaster oven if her own isn’t functioning at the time. Jane is also crazy enough to wander around the spice cabinet like she owns the place, taking foolish risks without quite realizing it when it comes to face to face encounters with rodents and spiders.
borrowerstuck!Dirk!
He’s the resident fabricator, responsible for welding, shaping, and creating things the others need. Closely works with Jade and Roxy to keep water and electricity to the group, he also does work for the humans without their knowledge, in order to keep their presence absolutely secret. Sudden intrusion by maintenance workers =/= good time for borrowers.
When not ripping apart old, outdated electronics, he’s abducting tamagotchi and other pocket toys and reprogramming them. So far his best and most lively is Lil Sebastian, who inhabits a lovely orange tamagotchi unit in his rooms corner. The most troubling is Hal, who thankfully is not functional very often. Tinkering with Automated Borrowers is honestly stressful as fuck. Not recommended.
Need something metal made? Need something magnetized? Dirk’s your man. Wields an embroidery needle that’s supposedly impossible to break. Frog button closure on his shrug was his own idea, because he’s had too many instances of wearing the old kind and getting stuck on something.. and then being unable to get loose as easily.
