Familiar Face
Borvath huffed, shifting in his chair a little.
Kokora didn’t even look up from their latest book. “You can’t already be bored, we've only been here for..”
“Four hours.” Rumbled Borvath
Kokora looked up and only then noticed the plethora of plates and empty mugs on the table. “You could have said something.”
“I just did.”
“I know you enjoy playing the dumb muscle, Borvath, but really? You know better.”
“You haven’t had much chance to just read in the last week.”
“No…” Kokora looked down a little sheepishly. “Thank you.”
“Rest and doing things you enjoy are important.”
“Same applies to you big guy.”
“Indeed, hence my interruption.”
“Oh.” Kokora grinned. “Well you don’t need my permission.”
Borvath narrowed his eyes a little. “I’m also not going to wander off without informing you… again.”
Kokora nodded. “Makes sense. Trouble does seem to find…”
“Shit!” Borvath interrupted.
Kokora blinked, for all his talk of violence when playing the muscle, Borvath was not one for swearing. He swept his eyes across the tavern. The only person that stood out was a minotaur dressed in the traditional uniform of a courier. The minotaur noticed Kokora at the same time and smiled before heading their way.
Kokora watched as the smile vanished when they got closer.
“Louis.” said Borvath.
“You….. you can’t be.” stammered the other Minotaur.
“Can’t be what?” smiled Kokora “I assure you people can do amazing things if they simply learned to put their mind to it.”
“The Bird and the Bull. You’re the Bull.” said Louis.
“I’m certainly not the bird am I, dear brother.” said Borvath, his words icing over with every syllable.
Kokora did a double take between the two Minotaurs. The Fur was different. This Louis was a chestnut brown to Borvath’s self described Void Black Fur, but the more he looked, the more you could start to see features that most people probably didn’t even notice. Then again Kokora was one to take in every detail, every scrap of information he could.
“I… I guess not.” stammered Louis.
“You have found who you are looking for, even if you are late.” accused Borvath
“Late! What are you talking about? I literally just arrived via a portal after hearing The Bird and The Bull were here in Frangstadt.” said Louis defensively
“Hmm…. mysteries upon mysteries. We were here to meet a client. They haven’t shown up, yet you have.” said Kokora, closing his book and gesturing to a seat. “Lucky you.”
“I don’t like this.” rumbled Borvath.
“Neither will Father.” said Louis.
Kokora cut off Borvath’s inevitably rude reply “He wanted us hired on our reputation without knowing details of who we were. That should be enough for him. If you used a portal to get here I assume the matter is urgent enough that the true identity of The Bull will be a trifling matter.”
Louis remained standing but sighed, their shoulders drooping. “Yes, you’re right. His daughter has been kidnapped.”
((Look at me still writing little snippets of things. Yay!))
