Dear Boss #3. If I’m here on Sunday, it’s not to cater to you.
Boss #3 came back from vacation yesterday (Saturday) and when I came into work today (Sunday, because I have not had a day off since Memorial Day and yes, it’s now AUGUST), and I walk into my workspace to find Boss #3 going through the paper data records searching for other people’s data to supplement his own. Again.
He’s only done this five times already in the past seven years. Oh yes, he was going through seven years of data to find other people’s data that is he is not entitled to, to complete HIS paper. He made a point of showing me how he moved my supplies on my shelves so he could put the binders where I had kept other supplies. He wants them there now. I am a damn adult and this is my space. I do not need binders that are consulted every 2 years (by him) in prime real estate on my shelves. Stay the hell out of my space.
Then, while I’m working (and not because I wanted to be here) he comes back in to ask about someone else’s mouse colony because he didn’t plan ahead enough with his own, he wants to know if it’s up to date so he can bargain with the other researcher to commandeer his mice. I tell him a few were euthanized and the rest are up to date. He insists I call it up on MY screen so he can look it over now on my desktop even though it’s a shared google doc and he has two monitors on his own desk in his own office. He had already claimed almost all of the mice before he went on vacation, but maybe more had appeared while he was on vacation.
It’s a goddamn Sunday. I’m not at work to serve you and wipe your butt for you. There is no reason we can’t deal with this during the supreme waste of my time that is his lab meeting tomorrow, when I will come in to work for the 69th consecutive day.
