☺: Best childhood memory?

Sometimes in the haze of unconsciousness there’s memories floating about, but he can never seem to quite grasp them. Reaching for them feels like moving through viscous liquid, heavy and slow. There’s so much missing, only bare snippets of what life was like before Mother, gaps where friendly faces should have been, but it doesn’t really matter (does it?). Childhood memories are hard to keep. 

With the amount of times he’s recited the phrase walk on wandering souls…, it would make sense to think that the first time that melody reached his ears, no other memory would ever come close to its shining light. While that song provides hope and courage, it’s also full of melancholy, a reminder of death and pressing forward. (because what else can you do?)

No, the best memory is so very simple. It’s a nondescript day, early in the morning, and really why is anyone awake before the sun itself is up? Yet, here they all are, a total of twelve children playing some sort of board game that he can no longer recall the name of. (Funny that no one ever wants to play card games…) If they’re any louder all of the sorcery division is going to awake, but it’s really hard to stay silent when the most outrageous of plays are happening. Sure, there’s accusations of cheater , and taunting hah got ya at game changing moves, but it’s fun and probably the first time Ace can see them as family. Good things must end however, and somebody gets too loud and it’s easy to tell someone is on their way to their destination. So the board is shoved haphazardly under the closest bed as everyone else rushes off to where they’re suppose to be asleep. No one talks about it, not with all the constant training they’re put through. Ace doubts anyone remembers this weird incident, but maybe when the war is over they’ll all be able to sit together again with easy laughter and no threats looming on the horizon.

☼ : What were you like as a child? 

Withdraw, quiet, solemn ,and socially inept. The boy, small for his age trails after his mother, constantly close at her heels trying to maintain an air of indifference instead of displaying his strong attachment to the one person who seems to care. Nobody else matters. When his social circle expands to class zero, dubbed his brothers and sisters there’s a myriad of personalities thrown at him. Not so much shy, but rather cautious, he finds himself at a lost on how to deal with a boisterous Cater, or a loud, raging Nine, or even an in-your-face Sice. So instead of fighting the growing fondness (and sometimes exasperation) he learns to accept it (some would say thrive in it). The boy full of suspicion with sharp eyes will always be there, especially concerning strangers, but maybe when no one is looking they’ll soften - compassion and understanding shining through. Everyone has family, or friends they consider as such. It’s okay to smile and laugh- to want to protect, to learn, to live, and to love.

Immediately, Class Zero turned to the ancient summoner. All stood at attention, and addressed her as respectfully as they could. Oor else Kurasame and Mother might give them an earful.

Ace: “Lady Caetuna? Interesting question. I could probably try out Cater’s gun? The bullets are magical and hone in on the enemy, much like my cards. I think I’d be pretty okay with them.”

Deuce: “Rem’s blades! She looks so graceful using them, as if she’s dancing. I’d love to try them out!”

Trey: “Ah, greetings Lady Caetuna! I’m interested in perhaps using Queen’s mythril blade? Though I’m disposed to long range, it would be an interesting battle style to learn.”

Cater: “I’ma just stick with shooting stuff. Gonna go with King’s guns, always wanted to test them out!”

Cinque: “Machina’s drill thingies look really cool! All spinny and pointy. Might be neat to stab things instead of smashing them like pancakes~❤”

Sice: “I guess Seven’s whip would be most my style? She looks pretty damn cool using it, so why not?”

Seven: “Perhaps Ace’s cards? I need to be as agile as possible in battle, and the lightness of the cards would be perfect for still being able to execute my flips whilst attacking.”

Eight: “None, Lady Caetuna. I’m sorry but…I hate weapons. For reasons personal to me. I just can’t. I’m sorry.”

Nine: “Sice’s scythe yo! Long weapons are my specialty (hehe) so swinging that around would be badass! I’d be like the freakin’ Grim Reaper or somethin’.”

Jack: “ Deuce’s flute is neat! Alwaaays wondered how she was able to fight with that thing. I’ll kill my enemies with the best rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody they’ve ever heard hehe~”

Queen: “Nine! Cater! Jack! And you too Sice! Speak to the Lady Summoner with more respect! *sigh* I apologize for their language and casual manner in speaking to you. To answer your question, I’d be inclined to choose Nine’s lance actually. The Legends od the Dragoon’s have always intrigued me. To learn their fighting style would be like bringing a little bit of history into battle with me, Lady Caetuna.”

King: “I’d like a hand at using Cinque’s mace. It’d be a good work out. Layin’ the smash on my enemies.”

Rem: “Gunslinger girl? I think it’d suit me Lady Caetuna. no?  King’s double pistols would be great projectiles to add to my arsenal. Along with my magic attacks, I’d do well,  I think!”

Machina: “Jack’s katana? Im used to having both my hands on a hilt, and katanas are traditionally used two handed. It’d be a cool fighting style to learn, while still keeping me a little around my comfort zone.”
