Pieter Bostoen - Play House Deformation, Gent (2010)
Having a background of street-art on one side and architecture on the other, Bostoen's painting has much been influenced by both. The techniques used often go back to spraypaint, stencils and paint markers. The inspiration on the other hand finds it's origin in architecture, geometry and graphical art. 'I like to make use of basic geometrical shapes, the square being the most predominant one. For me this is the most pure and honest form. It allows me, for example, to make a pattern that can be repeated infinitely. Even if you don't recognise the square as a shape, it still served as a base for the painting or pattern.'
