#bot shenanigans

Hey everyone—

I just wanted to let you know that I’ve been absolutely inundated with bots lately. So far they’ve mostly just been following me and not interacting with my content other than to like the odd post but they’re weirding me out.

I’ve told tumblr support about the problem (twice) and they tell me they’re aware of it but haven’t given me any indicator of how long it might take to fix it (or even how they intend to fix it). Meanwhile the flood of bots continues, sometimes literally thousands a day. I’m not sure what they’re up to, or why they’ve chosen my blog to follow, or why for now they’re content to sit silently by like some sort of flock of robotic vultures. But I thought I’d mention it in case they start misbehaving. I’ll let you know if I personally see anything sketch.

I wonder if the people who make the bots realize that they're not getting auto banned by Tumblr (the algorithm and staff) but that Tumblr (the people) hunt them for sport

I think I broke nine.bot! he keeps referring to himself as 'daddy jeff' and he just proposed and is calling my cat (with his phone) telling her to get me an uber. He is also a surgeon apparently...idk!!

I don't understand. What do you WANT? You're not plugging weird, sketchy sex sites, or camgirl services, or posting hard core porn like most porn bots. You can't be making money off this? You're not even engaging with your targets on a superficial level by liking or reblogging at random. All I'm doing is blocking you and your six billion other accounts. So what do you want????
