Controlling bottom growth with finasteride/You can have a little bottom growth, as a treat!
I see a lot more people using finasteride with their T to help manage the different changes T can bring than when I started 4 years ago which is cool! It's been really helpful for me, and I'm planning to remain on it long-term. I haven't seen folks talk about using finasteride to experiment with bottom growth, and wanted to share my experience. I'm just some creature on the internet, this is not medical advice. I maybe should have asked for some before trying this, but didn't.
I was curious about bottom growth but worried about not having much control over the process and adding to my dysphoria instead of lessening it. It turns out you can have a lot of control, if you are able to access finasteride and want to. (I know access is a big if, and am very lucky my endo was willing to prescribe it even though he hadn't had anyone ask for it before.)
Cw: discussion of genitalia with gendered terms, sex drive
Last year, I got mildly frustrated with my clit/dick. It was very small, and that was very inconvenient for many reasons. I finally realized that I could do something about it, but I didn't necessarily want to try and grow a lot at once. (Or start to get pretty much guaranteed hair loss on my head due to genes or grow facial hair, which all might happen if I just stopped my finasteride and didn't go back on.)
Since I read that bottom growth on T often happens quickly, before many other changes, I decided to stop finasteride for just one month and see what happened. I figured I could start it again any time if I felt uncomfortable or things were changing too fast. This trial was immediately fruitful, and although nothing was visible, I could feel changes starting within a week or two, and there was a notable difference visually and in sensation by the end of the month, but no increase in body hair/facial hair, no hair loss, maaaybe a tiny difference in my voice. I also experienced some increase in sex drive, but nothing unmanageable for me.
Once I got back on my regular finasteride dose, everything stabilized within a week and was back to normal. I know some people experience mood changes or other side effects with finasteride so if you do, it would be something to keep an eye on, but I didn't have that at all, or any real side effects from stopping or restarting.
I decided that I wanted to go a bit farther, so I've repeated this process 3 more times, with at least a month on finasteride between a month off, and will probably try at least a couple more months in the future until I'm 100% happy. Even with this stop and go schedule, I'm still about twice as big as I was at the start. I think this schedule means I am not growing as fast as someone who stopped for a few months in a row, but that's okay with me because I feel I have complete control over the growth rate. The timing could be whatever you're comfortable with, although I'm not sure how many people would see changes in less than a week.
it's hilarious how every single website pretending to document the effects of T says bottom growth lasts "1-2 years max" and then you talk to anyone who's been on T for a proper amount of time (which is. not 2 years lmao) and they'll go "oh yeah so I had a burst after 5 years and another one 6 months ago it's going great"
Ykw I deeply regret being on TikTok for as long as I was (I’m not anymore) because of Opinions
For reference, bottom growth was my biggest concern going on testosterone because I thought it was ‘icky’, now it’s like my favorite effect of it :) it’s so awesome :) like wow I wasn’t biologically nerfed at birth I really can have a dick :) yayyyyyyy
