Alpha Yuu and Omega Mika story thing I might give up on (part 2)
packs and the prime Alpha leads them; usually the person who formed the pack. They're much stronger in build and they go into ruts. These ruts could last a few days, normally. "For Betas, they're the neutral group and the second highest rank after the Alphas. Their scents—which are located in certain gland but mainly the neck—are much more bearable than an Omega or an Alpha. They're usually used as a median between dynamics and can also carry a child or impregnate another dynamic. Those grumpy guards out there? All Betas but one and I'm sure you can guess which one that is—oh, don't give me that look. "Now, Omegas are the ones we have little documentation of. Even so, we know they're the lowest dynamic. They're the submissive, the nurturer and the one to be breed. Omegas can have powerful scents and guess what? I heard that their scents could sway an arm full of Alphas and Betas—and I'm talking about just one Omega! Fascinating! "But omegas are usually paired with an alpha. A marriage for them is called bonding. They sink their teeth into the scent glands to seal the knot between them—speaking of knots, did you know that when the Alpha ejaculates during a heat that the base of their penises expands, locking the mates together for as long as 20 to 30 minutes while pumping as much as 20mL of semen into the omega for 100% success rate of conceiving! Ha, what am I saying? You're going to get a firsthand experience! Chess and Horn chuckled but Mikaela had no room for humor—it was his fate he was talking about. "Even more so, the Omega's body can do amazing things! All dynamics can heal—Alphas having the fastest rate—but after a heat, omegas have the most rapid recovery. These are things we're not exactly sure of but with your help I'm sure we'll figure out the answer to our questions. We still have a lot to learn about an Omega's pregnancy. Are you ready?" Mikaela sat there, allowing it all to sink in. "So, basically you're telling me that I have to birth some man's baby? All for the sake of science?" "Well, that's not exactly the case here." He said. "We're not so heartless as to have you carry a child from just any random Alpha. Ha, maybe the Hiiragi family would but I convinced them it was best to get a pair. Luckily, Yuuichirou had you." Mikaela paused. "You mean to tell me you have Yuu?" "Yeah! The perfect dynamics, the perfect bond and all ready to set." Ferid shrugged as he got up, stepping towards the bed, Mikaela felt himself slowly leaning back. Suddenly, he felt the chilled touch of latex prompting his legs open. A shrill yelp escaped him and his eyes locked with Chess; concern plastered over her features until Ferid came into view. "Sorry, Mikaela, but we need to confirm certain criteria," He cooed in a somewhat reassuring pitch. "The sooner we get done, the sooner you get to see your precious Alpha." The mere thought of getting reconnect with Yuuichirou relaxed Mikaela in ways he didn't think was possible in this situation. He allowed Chess to coax his legs apart before he feet were propped up comfortably. After feeling the cool air swipe against his bare hole, he couldn't stop the blood from rushing to his cheeks. "What'd you need to see my ass for?" "Oh, we just want to make sure you're not damaged down there or anything like that," Chess spoke up as she made way for Horn, "You know things can get a little frisky when a pair mate!" She giggled at her little joke. "Chess, don't tease the boy. He's already been through enough as it is." Horn reprimanded the petite girl but a chuckle of her in was hidden behind the laugh of the doctor's. After Horn sat in a rolling stool, Mikaela felt the chill touch of Horn's gloved finger probing at his entrance. Blue orbs gave her a bewildered stare. A/N: I don't know if I should just scrape it instead for this idea of one shots following gureshin and yuumika parent things with kids or just do both
Alpha Yuu and Omega Mika story thing I might give up on (part 1)
Mikaela gasped and sprung up out of his sleep, clutching at the sheets now bunched up at his waist. Something wasn't right—actually, nothing was right. He examined the space, puzzled; this wasn't his or Yuuichirou's room. It was more like a hospital room except: the very cot he laid in now, across was a toilet and sink, a table with two chairs pulled inside and placed onto that were folded sheets and pillows. At this point, Mikaela's sense were on edge. The last he could remember, he was meeting up with his boyfriend, Yuuichirou—he said he had something important to tell him—but when he arrived at his apartment, the door was gaped open with it's contents trashed all about. That's right. Yuuichirou's flat was ransacked but there was no man in sight. As he had called out to Yuuichirou, there was this immense pain on the back of his head and everything had turned black. He blinked his eyes and adjusted to the dark, sorting durations of possible cases. Two things were for sure: there was no Yuuichirou or clothes on him. The chilling tile floor kissed his soles as he slipped out of the cot. He staggered, his head a tad dizzy and he loosely wrapped the sheet around his torso. Then, unexpectedly, there were the sounds a loud 'clank'. "What the—" He kicked his leg, staring at it the best he could. Chains. A shackle was clasped firmly around his ankles. What kind of dream is this? Is this a kidnap? This is horrible; stuck here for who knows how long. God, hopefully Yuu is okay. Somehow in the midst of his horror the lights had flickered on and he covered his eyes to shade them from the sudden rays stinging his eyes. Blue orbs almost instantly landed on the door made of steel and he wasted no time in pacing towards it. Okay, this could work. He was inches away but his foot was yanked back and he collapsed with a soft umf. The chain was long enough for him to reach all the necessities but he could barely nip the doorknob with his fingertips. However that couldn't stop him from trying. He extended his body out, the pad of his finger just grazing off the cool metal. So close. Just a bit more. Time and time again, his hand would catch air and he'd crash to the ground, his chest beginning to bruise. He could slowly feel his strength decaying but. . .with one last burst he lunged for the knob— Before he could reach the handle, it jerked open and a man with thick eyebrows; his hair cut low but enough for Mikaela to run his hands through—to throw him with—stood in doorway with four guards poised behind him. "Mikaela Hyakuya, come with me." He commanded with authority, his voice booming and Mikaela himself subconsciously obeying him as if he were a puppet being controlled. Too bad Mikaela had other plans. The man side glanced at the man to his right and he immediately bent down to unshackle Mikaela. Bingo. As soon as those cuffs left his limb, he kneed the man in his neck and shoved his way through, palming one guy in his nose. Yes. I got away. Now, I need to see Yuu. He took corners and passed through doors to confuse them as he ran aimlessly down each corridor but all that surrounded him were miles and miles of doors. Pushing through another set, he ran straight into something or someone. With fear, his eyes landed on a person he did not want to see. "Are you done now?" He questioned, his expression indifferent; he knew that Mikaela didn't have a chance to escape him. Mikaela's heart dropped as he gave the man a slow nod. So there really is no way out of this? The guard he struck first now came forefront, his hand whipping across Mikaela's cheek. "You stupid slut! How dare you put your dirty little hands on me?" "Stop." That tall man ordered. "He's vital to us." "But, captain, this whore can't get away with that! A fucking omega hitting a beta like me—I'll become a laughing stock!" He protested, his hands clinching. Mikaela held his cheek, hugging the sheet tightly to his chest. Omega? Slut? The only person he's ever slept with was Yuuichirou and the only omega he learned about was in physics on a scientific calculator. When has physics been an adjective? Another guard laughed. "Ha, you already are, I think its a little too late for that, pal." "Well it can't be that bad compared to him. He gets to be that beast's bitch." He pointed out. Beast's bitch? Mikaela's head shot up at that. "Stop fooling around. Doctor Bathory is waiting for them in the medic center." He gritted through his teeth, irritation only apparent in his voice but that's all it took. The captain took hold of Mikaela's arm and shoved him forward. Eventually, the formed a box around Mikaela: Captain in front, two beside him and three tailing behind. They reached a room filled with gears, a hospital bed in the center and three people fiddling with the equipment inside. The silver haired man—his tresses slicked into a ponytail—noticed them first. "Captain Kureto, what took you so long?" He sang, merrily skipping to them. "It looks like you needed the extra time like I expected." This Kureto retorted. "And its Captain Hiiragi. Father didn't hire you to disrespect your higher ups." "Okay, okay!" The doctor discarded his notion with a wave of his hand. "If that's all then you're free to go. I only want this—" He tugged Mikaela into the room. "This fine specimen right here." Kureto nodded. "Call me once you're done." And they were gone. "So," Bathory guided him to the electric bed, gently pushing him back against it. Mikaela shifted, taking a deep breathe to calm his nerves. The least he could do now is cooperate after that failed attempt. "How was your trip?" "What?" Mikaela frowned. "You know, the trip here." Bathory said it with a casual shrug as he fiddled with the monitor next to him. "What're you talking about? I don't even know why I'm here let alone got here." The blonde snapped, a pit of anger growing inside him. This wasn't some ordinary day for starters. He is kidnapped not swept away on some sunny vacation. "I'd be more thankful if someone told me what's going on here." The man laughed. He had a huge smile on his face despite Mikaela's irritation. "Oh, sweetie, you really don't know. Okay, here, I'll tell you if you remove that sheet there for me." "You want me to get naked?" "Yes, please." He blinked. "What the hell are you trying to do to me?" Mikaela squeaked, his grip tight around the sheet. "Oh, well, we're going to be doing some check ups." He answered as a woman with curly pale strands parked a cart holding a tray lined with utilities and bottles. A second woman with shoulder length hair came to Mikaela's side, hand stuck out. "The sheet, please?" Reluctantly, Mikaela allowed her to take it from his grasp. At least he's going to get some kind of knowledge out of this which he could really use right now. "Great, now, what do you want to know first?" Bathory maneuvered inside his rolling chair, flipping through pages and folders. "Why am I here?" Bathory hummed. After thumbing over a stack inside a manila folder, he snatched out a packet. "You're the mate of Yuuichirou Hyakuya, correct?" "Y-Yeah—well not mate as in married or anything—but he is my boyfriend, yes." Another hum. "Well, due to your exemplary matching dynamics you've been chosen to be experiments for the Hiiragi family." "Experiments?" "Correct! Being the omega for us, you'll be working with me to reproduce your own family!" Doctor Bathory chuckled in his own twisted happiness. However, the blonde was far from happy. He got kidnapped into this weird facility, stripped naked, humiliated and now there's this stranger telling him that he, a male, has to carry children. "This is useless! I'm a man; I can't have children even if I wanted to!" He could feel the anger stirring inside his gut. This situation was not only stressing him out but the whole damn pack weirdos weren't making things any better. Suddenly, he felt straps being secured around his wrists. He didn't realize it but he was half way out the bed, ready to pounce on the doctor and he settled back down. "Sorry. . ." "Whoa, scary!" He smiled, completely disregarding the near assault. "Its fine. You have a right to be upset. Though, it'd do you no good. So, With a raise of his finger, the initial nurse made herself present by his side. "Draw some of Mikaela's blood for me, will you? Mr. Hyakuya, this is nurse Horn. The other nurse is Chess. They'll be helping me with your progress. I'm Doctor Ferid Bathory. Would you like to ask me any more questions before we start?" "Just. . .why me?" There was a gloomy sadness in his softened tone as he ducked his head, eyes tearing up. "I can't conceive a child. I'm a man. Its not physically possible." "Oh, sweetheart," Ferid clasped a comforting hand over Mikaela's own. "I wish I could help. If there's anything I can do to reassure you that you won't be in harms way, I will. Far as gender goes, that's just your primary." "What?" "You know, your primary gender. You're a natural omega. But before we get ahead of ourselves, do you mind if Horn here draws some blood real quick?" Horn held out her hand. "May I?" Offering his arm to her, she swab the crook of his elbow over with a piece of cotton doused in alcohol. Then after finding his vein, she pierced the needle into his skin extracting both blood and a hiss from the blonde. Rapidly, she cleaned him up, bandaging him and disappeared with her collection. The spot itched and he was tempted to scratch it but willed himself not—that and he was still strapped down. Ferid took notice of it and made quick work of releasing him from his restraints. "Doctor," He rubbed at his sore wrists. "What's an Omega?" "Oh gosh, well, let's start from the beginning. To clear things up, not all human beings have this secondary gender. In fact, its believed there's a whole village of them hiding from the human community! But as far as we know its just rumors from pesky conspiracy theories that are backed by little to no evidence. Though, it'd be pretty amazing, right? "The system goes from the dominate dynamic to the submissive dynamic. The following, strongest to weakest, goes: alpha, beta, omega. The Alphas, like your boyfriend Yuuichirou Hyakuya, are the leaders. They form what are called packs and the prime Alpha leads them; usually the person who formed the pack. They're much stronger in build and they go into ruts.

Summary: Yuu’s touch is all that can calm Mika’s hunger, if only briefly.
He shivered, his skin prickling against the large hands that caressed their way down his back. The tips of those long, calloused fingers traced every curve, impression, and freckle of his flesh. They knew every part of him, every sacred, intimate, ugly, beautiful, unnatural part of him.
He lay bare before the man, not a shred of clothing, with no sight of the cold mask of indifference he so easily wore outside the walls of Yuu’s bedroom.
It was just the two of them.
His hands curled into the stain sheets, pulling and twisting. Slowly, carefully, with gentleness that knotted his stomach and made his heart race, slick fingers delved into him.
His lips parted, a feeble syllable rushing out with a hot puff of air.
Another finger.
His legs spread wider, his back arching, hips bucking.
Yuu’s voice filled his ears, the steady stream of words urging him on. He couldn’t make sense of them all. His name was among them, spoken softly, lovingly.
He moaned, begging his mouth to curl around his lover’s name. Nothing but short, desperate whines left his lips. Lust corroded his ability to speak.
Frustration came then, igniting the blood that ran under his skin; borrowed blood, shared blood.
Yuu’s fingers left him. His body trembled and writhed at the loss. He needed more. His touch, his lips, his heat.
Strength that was ever growing, pulled him into a warm, broad chest. He was cradled against Yuu’s body, the warmth radiating off of it nearly suffocating him. He dug his nails into Yuu’s sturdy shoulders, gasping when gentle hands turned rough, their touch like flames licking at his back.
“M-more, touch me more.” Mika finally managed, his voice cracking under the pleasure.
Yuu leaned down, tightening his grip on Mika’s waist, and captured his lips.
He gasped, nails biting into Yuu’s flesh as an eager tongue joined his. He gave into temptation and nipped a little harder, drawing blood. Yuu groaned as he lapped at the droplets, the sweetest taste of ambrosia, freely flowing.
Fingers wrapped around his hair, giving a gentle tug, pausing—waiting—before harshly pulling Mika away from his delightful appetizer. A sudden urge to fight back, claim his rightfully owed meal, blurred Mika’s vision. The grip on his hair kept him at bay. Instinct and reason warred inside of him, even with years of repetition, of familiarity, the war between who he wanted to be and who he was, still lingered.
Yuu’s other hand traveled up his stomach to his chest, teasing and pinching the rosy nipples on unblemished skin.
Mika licked his lips, his hips twitching alongside his dripping cock. The grip on his hair loosened some, allowing him to reach Yuu’s line of vision. Brilliant green eyes, now wizened with age, stared into his own.
It was not an intimate gaze between lovers, he was being stared down, forced to submit. He stared back, challenging his handler, his lover, his mate.
Years of experience, shared experience, allowed his body to be easily maneuvered. Pinned down. Controlled.
“Don’t lose yourself.” Yuu whispered, his body looming over Mika’s, hands spreading long, pale legs. In one fluid motion, he was buried deep inside Mika’s body.
Each thrust was another layer on his armor, protecting his sanity and whatever part of him was still human. He cursed, gasped, screamed, his thighs trembling with the need to maintain Yuu’s rhythm. Yuu held him close as they fucked, their sweat and breaths mingling. Mika clawed at Yuu’s back, the need for release overpowering his hunger.
He begged with broken words, his body going rigid when Yuu grasped his cock. He stroked him in tune with his thrusts, leaving Mika to pant in pleasure, need, and desperation.
A violent shudder and a silent yell were the indicators of Mika’s climax, his mind fogging over even as Yuu continued to pound into him.
When he regained his senses, Yuu was pulling out of him, wetness trailing down his thighs.
Mika reveled in the sensations that lingered in his body, the delicious ache to his ass, the heat on his skin, the fluttering of his heart. They were fleeting, so cruelly ripped from his grasp as the hunger began to creep into him.
He shivered, curling into himself.
“It’s okay.” Yuu’s soft voice nudged him, his limbs unfurling as he turned toward the older man. He sighed when Yuu’s hand cupped his cheek. “Drink. One more will be okay.”
Before self-hatred joined his insatiable hunger, Yuu dragged him to the crook of his neck.
“I’ll stop you before you go too far.” Yuu said, his voice firm, reassuring.
Unable to say anything else, for he knew from experience how an apology would be received, Mika closed his eyes and sank his fangs into Yuu’s neck. The sweetest ambrosia filling his mouth.

Yuichirou Hyakuya, now 26, is in charge of overseeing security measures for one such auction when he is reunited with the boy he once thought was dead.

Yuu kept his eyes away as Yoichi bandaged up his palm, the stinging lessening with each fleeting second.
“You sure you’re okay on your own?” Yoichi asked for the third time. Yuu nodded, certain this was something he had to do alone. He could understand Yoichi’s uneasiness, but Mika was Mika, not a dangerous thirst-craved beast. At least, that’s what Yuu hoped.
“Fine, but I’m not going anywhere until you come back.” Yoichi said, with an air of finality in his voice.
“I’ll be fine.” Yuu insisted, but didn’t press Yoichi to change his mind. Instead, he wrapped the blood filled glass in a few napkins and made his way toward Mika.
He wondered if what he had to offer would be enough. Yoichi had reassured him that it would be. Vampires, he’d said, didn’t require that much blood to keep their bodies from turning into senseless demons. That was why many of the nobles who owned vampire slaves kept them on strict diets, giving them only enough to keep them on the edge of that precarious line between madness and sanity.
Cruelty at its finest, Yuu had thought moments after he’d heard Yoichi’s words. However, that sentiment was only directed toward the one vampire he knew deserved no cruelty. Mika was different, Mika was no monster that slaughtered children for fun. He was Yuu’s…family.
Yuu hastened his step.
He expected to hear the clattering of Mika’s chains as he drew closer to the room he held Mika in, but it was eerily quiet. Uneasiness flooded his stomach as he opened the door. His eyes immediately fell to the panting blond slumped against the wall, knees drawn up to his heaving chest.
Fierce red eyes glared up at him, a snarl curling Mika’s lips. One of Mika’s hands twitched as it lay at his side, and then his entire body went rigid. There was a pained grunt and then a gasp. The collar around Mika’s neckhad flared to life.
Panicked, Yuu rushed in.
“I don’t–look I don’t know why that thing is hurting you, but I’ve got this for you, see?” Yuu raised the glass once Mika turned toward him. “I’ll leave it here and you can get it and drink it, alright?” Yuu spoke quickly, moving to leave the glass close enough for Mika to reach it. A tremor shook Mika’s body as Yuu placed the glass in front of him. Yuu moved away then, leaning uneasily against the closed door across from Mika.
Mika’s body relaxed from its tense posture, and while he threw Yuu a distrustful glare, his hands reached for the glass. Without hesitation, Mika gulped down every single drop of blood.
When he looked up at Yuu again, his eyes were the same shimmering blue Yuu had always known.
“Do you plan to spend the rest of day starting at me?”
Yuu jumped upon hearing Mika’s brisk words. His eyes strayed to the made bed on the corner of the room, the empty bookshelf by the window, and then finally back toward the irate blond. Despite his obvious dislike, Mika did seem much calmer.
“Sorry.” Yuu muttered, unsure why he felt the need to apologize. Mika’s intense glare lessened just a fraction.
“That is the first apology I’ve heard come out of a human’s mouth. I was beginning to think your kind knew nothing of it.” The words were scathing, but Yuu couldn’t help the smile that forced its way out. Mika was finally talking to him. He was, however, unsettled by how easily Mika identified as anything other than human. Apart from not remembering Yuu, did he also forget that he was once a human?
There were so many questions running through Yuu’s head, he wasn’t sure which to ask first. He settled for the one that had been burning behind the tip of his tongue from the moment he saw the lost expression in Mika’s eyes. It was stupid of him to ask, yet he could not control his mouth.
“You really don’t remember me, do you?”
It was ridiculous how easily hope blossomed in his chest as he watched Mika’s face for any sign of recognition. It was roughly squashed when Mika sneered at him, his entire body going stiff as a board.
“Oh? Were you one of the hunters who dragged me to the city? Which one were you? The one you beat me until I could no longer walk, or the one who threatened to cut me open if I didn’t stop screaming? You’ll have to forgive my fuzzy memory.” Mika’s voice dripped with venom and all Yuu could do was stare in horror.
“No! No, I wasn’t…” Yuu averted his gaze, guilt rising up his throat like bile. He hadn’t been the one to capture Mika, but how many others had he captured and brought back? He’d turned a blind eye when he saw how his companions preferred to use rougher tactics to suppress a vampire. Preferred wasn’t the correct word though, they enjoyed it. He’d had no problem with ignoring the pained wails of the frenzied vampire as he made sure the area was clear of any other strays. It was a small way for them to whet their appetite for revenge.
It made him sick now.
Mika’s ragged breathing drew him out of his mind. He returned his gaze to the blond, startled to find Mika’s face alarmingly close to his own.
Mika’s mouth twisted, teeth gleaming behind his lips, “Ah, I see, you were the one responsible for this, then?” Mika pointed at the collar, his eyes locked onto Yuu’s.
“The pain was blinding, you know. All I could hear was laughter. What a scene I must have made.” Something slipped into Mika’s voice at that last sentence, it mingled with the hatred of his previous words. The sound of it had Yuu reaching forward, unthinking.
Mika recoiled, his rigid body pressing tight against the wall, as far away from Yuu’s hands as physically possible.
“It wasn’t me, I wasn’t there when they captured you, but I’m sorry. I’m so sorry, Mika.” Yuu hoped, begged, for those words to reach Mika.
Silence engulfed the room, only the faint sounds of the outside world filtering through the thick walls of the house. It was useless. No matter how much Yuu wished it, Mika was not the same boy he once was. There would be no happy reunion for them, no solace from the cruel fate thrust upon them. He cursed whatever deity existed, if there was even one, and stood. Just as he turned his back on Mika, the blond spoke.
“This thing,” Yuu turned, watching as Mika’s fingers grazed the black material of the collar. “What is it? Why does it…” Mika seemed to struggle with his words. “How can it inflict so much pain?” He finally managed, his eyes once again finding Yuu’s.
For the first time, he saw vulnerability flicker through Mika.
Yuu sat back down, crossing his legs.
The best way to approach this would be with complete honesty, Yuu figured. He knew very little about the collar himself, and he didn’t want to confuse or mislead Mika. He wanted the boy’s trust.
“I don’t know much about it,” Yuu began, wincing when he saw Mika’s eyes narrow. “I’ve never been in contact with one for too long. All I know is that it works on a system of rules. The collar has to be claimed through a simple incantation, but it can only be done by someone with a strong mind. Magic has always been unpredictable at best, and it takes someone experienced with it to fully understand it.” Yuu wasn’t sure if he was making much sense to the blond. Mika looked perplexed and uncertain.
“Claimed?” Mika repeated in a whisper.
“I’m not planning on doing that, though.” Yuu said quickly. “I’d rather find a way to take it off of you, I just don’t know how.” Mika looked even more confused now. Yuu sighed.
“You are very strange.” Mika said, but there wasn’t much malice behind those words.
“You are not the first person to say that.” Yuu cracked a smile, it felt surreal. Mika didn’t comment, he simply stared with unwavering eyes that stirred Yuu’s memories. Memories that were wrinkled and worn like an old book you read over and over until the pages began to fall apart.
Yuu cleared his throat, eager to move the conversation forward.
“The pain you mentioned, it’s supposed to act as a paralyzer, a way to keep your powers stunted. I don’t know all of the reasons that function is triggered. I’d assumed it only happened when you tried to attack, but before you could barely move and it hurt you.” Yuu said, willing the image of Mika’s face twisted in pain to disappear.
“I have a friend here, he knows more about the collar, so I’ll ask him for help. At any right, I should let you rest after what happened.” Yuu stood, half of him desperately wanting to stay by Mika’s side and the other anxious to get out of the room.
His hand was on the doorknob of the bedroom door when he heard Mika’s voice ring out.
“When I saw you standing there and smelled the blood, my first thought was to kill you and drain you of every drop. I didn’t have the strength to move, but the desire was overwhelming. That’s when I felt the collar react.” He said nothing more after that, and Yuu walked out of the room, suppressing the shudder that threatened to wrack his body.
“You’ve gone mad.”
Yuu rolled his eyes at Yoichi’s overly dramatic tone.
“I can assure I’ve never felt more certain about anything in my entire life.” Yuu said, a grin spreading across his face when he saw Yoichi sigh in defeat. Yoichi wasn’t giving in just yet, but Yuu knew Yoichi was considering it, he just needed a bit of persuasion.
“You’ve told me he doesn’t’ remember you at all, Yuu. Don’t you think setting him free will only put you in danger? Besides, I wouldn’t even know where to begin looking for a way to deactivate the collar, and even if I did, once they found out you’ve purposefully liberated a vampire—because they will find out—they will have both your head and mine.”
Yuu’s smile faltered. He hadn’t considered freeing Mika. Taking off the collar, sure, but he hadn’t thought of letting Mika go out on his own. He’d foolishly imagined a scenario where Mika would regain his memories and wouldn’t want to leave Yuu, but this Mika he had now…this Mika wouldn’t think twice about leaving.
Still…
“I can’t do that to him, Yoichi. I can’t give myself that kind of power over someone else’s life.”
“I understand, but you chose to take responsibility for his life the moment you took him in.” Yoichi crossed his arms. “What did you even hope to accomplish, Yuu? You know that there is no cure for those who’ve been turned. What did you expect from him? Rather, what did you expect would happen after you freed him of the collar?”
Yuu opened his mouth only to snap it shut when no words would come to him.
Yoichi moved closer to Yuu, patting him on the shoulder, “What you want to do is far too risky, and if you’re planning on leaving Mika’s collar unclaimed it will only make it easier for him to get hurt unintentionally. The collar doesn’t know what to punish him for, so it does it for everything. Any thought, any movement, it conceives as a threat. If you really care about Mika’s well-being, you’ll go through with it. Later, if he manages to regain his memories, we can revisit this discussion of taking off the collar, if it is even possible.” Yoichi drew his hand back and offered Yuu a small smile. It disappeared when he saw that Yuu still looked unconvinced.
“You are far too stubborn for your own good.” Yoichi huffed.
“Why are you so reluctant to claim his collar, Yuu?”
“I don’t know. It just…it seems wrong, and Mika would probably hate me for it.” Yuu finally admitted, running his hand down his face. Yoichi’s eyebrows shot up.
“What makes you think that?”
“Wouldn’t you?” Yuu grumbled, exasperated. “How would you feel if your life was no longer yours to control? He would,” Yuu looked away, voice going soft, “he would hate that.”
“Wouldn’t he hate even more to be in constant pain? I’m not saying it’s the right thing, Yuu. However, it’s the best you can do for him now.” Yoichi waited and watched. Yuu looked to be in the midst of an internal struggle.
“I don’t want to lose him.” Yuu’s determined tone filled the silence. “I don’t like this, but I’d rather have him here, even under those conditions, than to lose him again.” After all the years of wishful thinking and what-ifs, years of fruitless searching despite knowledge of Mika’s supposed death, he was not about to let it all fall away. He’d even refused to leave Tokyo in hopes of one day coming across information about Mika, and he’d been given much more than that.
The words hung in the air for a moment, before Yuu spoke again, ready to change the subject.
“Right, before you said something about his memories being affected by the collar?” Yoichi threw him an exasperated look.
“Really, do you ever listen? I said, I wasn’t sure there was any connection between the two, but that I’d have to read over the research files before I can give you an accurate answer. I don’t know when I’ll have a chance to read over them since we’ve been handed another caseload.” Yoichi continued upon seeing Yuu’s questioning look. “Apparently, there have been some problems with negotiations with the countries to the west. General Hiiragi has been dropping by more often too, and there’s even talk of small rebellion groups sprouting all over the world, even in countries unified under Japan. It’s strange, don’t you think?”
Yuu shrugged, “When the world was being consumed by vampires and Horsemen they all wanted our help. We were the only ones who had the means to stop them and we did. If there is ever another attack, they’ll be the first to clamor around us in search of aid. We’ve enough things to deal with here.”
Yoichi gave a vague nod. Yuu couldn’t decipher the look on his face.
“We do. Speaking of which, I’ve been away long enough.” Yoichi said, making his way toward the front door. He glanced back at Yuu one last time before he left, “I hope you claim Mikaela-kun’s collar sooner rather than later. Having him tied to chains is unpleasantly morbid to think about.” With that Yoichi said his goodbye and left.
Yuu waited, anticipation keeping his breathing shallow, his hands curled into themselves.
“If it’s the only way to keep this thing from going off every minute, then I suppose I don’t have much choice.” Mika said, a slight tremor in his voice, his eyes did not betray him the way his voice did. Yuu nodded.
“How does it…?” Mika trailed off.
“Can you stand?” Yuu stood, offering a tentative hand to Mika. His breath hitched when Mika took it and pulled himself up, quickly releasing his hand once he was on his feet.
It took a moment for Yuu to realize how different they were. Even at his full height, Mika was about two heads shorter than Yuu. His body was thin, small, compared to Yuu’s. He had to be a few years younger, five or six, at least. Growing up, they’d usually maintain similar heights and body structure, so seeing Mika like this was odd and unsettling. The boy had been frozen in time, never to change again.
“I’ll need to touch the collar, alright?” Yuu said, taking a small step forward, determined not to let his emotions get the best of him. He waited until Mika’s eyes finished analyzing his face and for the small gesture from Mika that he could continue. Mika kept his body taut as Yuu’s hand reached for the collar, his eyes refusing to leave Yuu’s face.
Yuu’s fingers lightly touched the cold surface of the collar, stretching out his palm until it completely covered the side of Mika’s neck. He was surprised to find the flesh surrounding the collar warm. Warm and soft.
Yuu closed his eyes, taking a deep breath. With his heart hammering away behind his chest, either from nervousness or fear, he whispered the words that would bind Mika to him.
Yuu opened his eyes to find the collar glow a dim green, it was a brief moment and then it darkened to a coal black, cementing the Claim.
“It’s done.” Yuu said, pulling his hand back from Mika’s neck. He curled it into a fist when he felt it tingle where Mika’s skin had touched it.
“All that’s left is setting up the rules, with them there will be no reason for you to be kept in chains.” Yuu added with a twitch of his lips. There was always a silver lining, after all.
“What are they?” Mika cocked his head to the side, eyes guarded. “Your rules?”
Yuu stared, swallowing around the thickness that had settled in his throat, uneasy by the things his mind was supplying him with. Things that had never crossed his thoughts before. He angrily pushed them away.
He concentrated, trying to remember what Yoichi had said about setting a rule. It had to be with a firm, clear voice.
Yuu felt more drained than firm or in control, but he mustered whatever strength he could find.
“You are forbidden from physically harming me, or any other human that steps into this house.” Yuu thought that was the best way to phrase it so the collar wouldn’t hurt Mika even if his thoughts were hostile. Mika seemed to agree, given by the way his body relaxed and his face softened.
“You are also forbidden from leaving my house, you may venture into the gardens but you cannot cross over the fence.” That earned him a weak glare.
“I can’t exactly let you roam free, you know. It’s for your protection, trust me.” Yuu offered Mika an apologetic smile. The blond gave him no response, but he didn’t seem too upset, so Yuu counted it as a success.
“With this, you can say goodbye to these chains. Sorry about them, by the way. I know you don’t think I mean it, when I say these things, but I really do want what’s best for you. You’ll understand later.” Yuu babbled on as he removed Mika’s chains. If he were being honest with himself, he was feeling relieved. The claiming process hadn’t been as horrible as he’d thought. Perhaps, everything would be alright. Yoichi had been right. He had done what was best for Mika, of that he could be certain.
Mika watched the man carefully, feeling lighter with each chain that fell away. Yet, when all the chains were removed he felt no different. The feeling of lightness had been an illusion.
He touched the collar around his neck, its small appearance was quite deceiving, for it was heavier than any chain the man could have placed on him.
