Lily was already waiting in the lobby when James showed up at 7:45 to meet her. He paused for a moment by the elevator, watching her smile down at her phone. James had wondered if he had dreamed up the girl he met yesterday, or whether he had at least made her more beautiful in his imagination. Lucky for him, she was even more beautiful than he remembered.
James walked up behind her, leaning down over the back of the couch beside her. “I thought I’d come down here and meet the most beautiful girl on the mountain, and here you are just waiting for me.”
She must not have noticed him walking up because she jumped slightly when he spoke. She turned toward him with a smile, and when he finished speaking, she placed a hand on his cheek to turn him toward her, and kissed him.
“Well, some stud told me to meet him for skiing today, so this couch seemed as good of a place as any.”
“Lucky me then.” James leaned in and kissed her again. “Hope he doesn’t show up.”
Lily laughed. “I think you’re safe.”
