❝ I…I’m sorry. I have to go ❞

what a fucking 𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒕𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒘 this all had been. vera had been in utter shock when teddy told her about the engagement — but to hear of their breakup and of ezra and céline was never something vera would have expected from the princess. the 𝒓𝒊𝒇𝒕 between the love club tasted sour — it reminded vera that when conflict arose lines were always drawn and sides chosen. no one lived in no man’s land.
vera had just bumped into céline at the library — nothing happened between the two to garner such nervous words from céline and yet they both knew, in the end, that vera had stood by teddy. vera worried that if she hadn’t, no one would have. and though it complicated everything, teddy was the first person to begin to define what a 𝒃𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒇𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒅 meant to vera. and although vera myeong will always undoubtedly hold love for nicolás, she felt nothing towards his sister besides the hollow ache of a potential friendship now a seemingly impossible thought. maybe in another universe, in another lifetime. but in this reality céline bristled past vera hurriedly with those words on her lips and vera just sighed.
she was sorry too. if only things were 𝒅𝒊𝒇𝒇𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒕.
