@bouncebxck liked this for a starter (Tony and Charity)
The party had already gone on longer than Tony would have liked--which was saying something. Once upon a time, he’d have loved a party that went well into the night--or rather, he would have pretended to like it and drank enough to convince even himself that it had been fun. But now he was sober. And this wasn’t that type of party.
Tony tugged at the his tie, turning toward the bar-- “Just a water, thanks”--so at least he could hide his face long enough to rest his jaw from the ridiculous smile he’d been wearing all night long. These events were always the same: smile, shake hands, schmooze, repeat. But it was worth it; the cause he was talking people into donating to was worth it. He only hoped it would be over soon.
He turned to head back into the throng and found himself face to face with, well, a face, he was pretty sure he’d seen on a billboard. He put the smile back on and gestured at the bar. “Can I get you a drink?”
