Dream Journal - Entry 17
Air is all gas and moisture, but I've never seen it actually ripple in real life. I don't mean in the way heat travels in waves over hot pavement, I mean a literal bending and stretching like oil running through a pool of water, it just doesn't happen. I was walking along a stretch of old road next to some pasture land and open fields; it sort've reminded me of the tail-end of my mirror maze dream, only it's day time, with the sun set low in the sky, giving the world a soft, golden tint. It was a hilly area, and there were vast stretches of tall grass swaying in a gentle breeze. I stopped to watch some of this peaceful bit of nature, and found myself focusing a great deal on the patch of swaying grass sitting before me. As I watched more and more, my vision became hazy and just as wavy as the grass. It was as if the world had started to melt and float! I blinked several times, vainly trying to clear my vision. I began to focus more on the air around me, then upon the sky above me. It was like a vapor had formed, or invisible heat trails had began an upward advance through a clear golden liquid. It was subtle at first, but eventually even distant trees began to melt upward into the sky. I felt like the world of gas and heat was pressing in on me like water, and with some fascination I let it. I watched on as the fields and hills began to ripple like a water bed, and I felt no amount of surprise as I bounced away from the ground, weightless and carefree like a trampoline. The ground continued to wobble, and I would occasionally bump into it softly and without incident. A few times, the ground formed around me like a blanket, smothering out the light momentarily. I would eventually pop back up into the sky; it was like floating in tall waves--you just had to wait for the crest and you'd be top of the world again, so to speak. The clouds had melted a long time ago, transforming themselves into a separate layer, a melted silver stream weaving its way fitfully through the air and bobbing up and down like a rollercoaster. I lingered here above the cloud layer for awhile, taking in the sights and sounds. Looking down it was like a green and silver ocean, I ultimately compared the sight to a decorative stone tile. It even started to feel more solid to my eyes. Everything had become static, and I was left floating.
