The unwinding of his arrow is gradual as he peers through the misty curtains of sunlight scattered throughout the pillars of stone . He spares one last CAUTIOUS glance in his periphery , before lowering the bow in his grip as the Inquisitor watches the mage almost calculatingly from a distance .
❝ Well I guess that attitude explains the hapless welcoming committee of dead people , though I’d say I usually prefer my company alive . ❞

“good afternoon, clancy,” there’s a small COUGH to announce her presence as she enormously doubts he’d take notice without SOME explicit notice, “you look busy as ever, i see. work going well?”
hands fold LIGHTLY together in front of her waist and she looks the picture of GRACEFUL diplomacy. sidri distantly thinks josephine would near SHED a tear to see her now. “i thought, perhaps, you and i might go on a quick WALK together.” it’s STATED with easy precision but there’s a FIRMNESS to it that discourages his USUAL retorts. “you’ve my word it won’t take long and it is such a BEAUTIFUL day outside.”

“Your attitude towards others show how obvious it is that you’re afraid of any type of emotional intimacy; the reality is your sickness is eating away at your core and you’re going to be alone when you finally fall.”

It’s funny, Inara thinks, how such tiny little people can hold such immense power. No -- not funny. Not really. More terrifying.
But that’s not polite.
“They tell me you like corpses,” the former Warden says as she looks down upon the boy curiously. That’s probably not polite, either. “Is that true?”

ok but what does he do when a mage criticises him does his entire world just crumble does he turn into that meme with the guy and the sand and the crying
» SOMETIMES, YES. ACTUALLY. depends on the mage though. Apostates who’ve had nothing to do with the circle system and have lived safely and free??? he does not give a shit abt what they have to say on the circles. sometimes he might even write off circle mages who’ve never dealt with seeing the reality of some circles.
but like. he’s the most sensitive to opinions of circle mages because he puts so much trust and love into his own people, it hurts for it to be a little misplaced. and to know that his own peers don’t approve of him.
