deeply she took in a breath as she ran her fingers through her hair. she needed just a spare moment to collect herself, though strangely she didn’t feel too stressed. it was weird, bizarre, but for once she decided to just go with it and not to question it. ESPECIALLY since she was beside the little green baby who was apparently wanted. for what, she didn’t know. she didn’t know if she should ask or if that would seem suspicious. “okay, i think we should just stay here for a while. lay low while we figure out what to do,” she decided, nodding her head. “ I need you to stay. “

“Hmhm. You’re awfully sweet, aren’t you, little one?” Kell Linah hummed while vaguely bouncing him, trailing her thumb along his leathery ear then letting her pinky softly boop his nose.
“Dah’dyn.” She cooed her own language-combined term of endearment for him. “Your poor father has a little heartbreaker on his hands, doesn’t he?”
she could tell the tiny creature was hiding, but she was unsure of whether this was some sort of game for the child or whether it was actually scared of her. she hoped it was the former and not the latter. of course she usually ran any unknown creatures from her home, or what she had made of a home, but this little.... thing? she was sure it meant no harm and had somehow just found itself abandoned... much like herself. getting down on her hands and knees, she crawled over to the side of the downed at-at unit, peering around into the dark at the tiny child. “ i won’t hurt you... i’ve got some food if you’re hungry. YOU MUST BE. i’ve got some water as well, and it’s fresh... “ ---------------- @bountychild

♝ : Reading a book together
“Ahck, yes! Alright! We’ll read that one, you win! Careful of the light!” She had to fight to prevent the laughter from leaving her throat, the covers rustling lightly as she adjust the small lantern at her side. “Little cheater, you knew that was my ticklish spot!”
The absence of the Mandalorian often gave the child and the woman a mild case of anxiety. Each time they touched down upon a planet where he could find work, it was brought with a sense of light downtrodden and worry. The female guardian of the asset would be entrusted to the baby and the ship, a reality that oftentimes threatened to overwhelm her. Until she made up little privileges during Mando’s excursions. And these moments were some of Kell’s favorite. The sweet, spontaneous special time her and the child got to have together and be free of concern for a time. They could just be.
Swiping the aforementioned leather-bound object from the drawer, Kell let her other arm tug the child closer to her side, assuring the blanket was in a position to nicely warm them both. “There, all ready?” She bent her head to place a soft kiss on the youngling’s temple, her smile illuminating brighter than the reading light. “No more tickles, promise? Okay. Here we go! ‘ Once, in a far away galaxy …’ ”

It had been a week since the Mandalorian had hijacked her for her services yet again (she had a feeling he didn’t really have any friends or anyone else to rely on for help), but then he’d come down with a illness. While it wasn’t serious, she’d seen how miserable he was and made the executive decision that they would stay on this world until he was better, and she would protect and look after the child, allowing him much needed rest.
The world it’s self was just as miserable, a gray, cool world where it seemed to rain constantly. Everything was cold and damp and Cara had a feeling she was going to start getting sick before too much longer. The upside was that there were plenty of little frog like creatures around so feeding the child wasn’t a big issue.
Which is what she was doing now. A tarp had been spread out from the side of the Crest to form a large dry area, where she’d started a fire, if for no other reason than to have some dry heat. Over the fire was a small spit, roasting a dozen of the small frogs (watching the child slurp down live ones was too much and if she was going to take care of him, he was going to eat cooked food).
“Here you go.” she said, sliding one off and blowing on it to cool it, then handed it down to him. “At least you seem happy here.... I wonder if you come from a damp planet...”
