Remember Toby? Gentleman Turkey extraordinaire?

His Best Girl was a Ringneck Pheasant who we lost in the Great Raccoon Assassination of 2018. (When a raccoon fell through the roof of the Barn and tragedy ensued.) Toby has been depressed ever since. The Barn roof has been repaired, but Toby’s heart was not so easily patched.

Wait until he sees who is coming to join the family.....

Toby catching a glimpse of the arriving hen... he immediately began inflating and his fan is up. When her feet hit the barn floor the drumming and rattling started... and the dancing commenced. He has hardly taken a break since she arrived.

Typical Toby, he is being very gentle around her and is not forcing his attentions. He is dancing “socially distanced” and the closest he gets is when he is herding the chickens away from her when they get too pushy in their curiosity.

As the new girl is only three months old she is understandably a bit overwhelmed. When in doubt, go up! She heads into the barn rafters to escape her new friends when she gets feeling crowded.

So, it’s a bunk bed berth for Toby’s new love tonight! Undeterred, he waits patiently below.
