Riddick Bowe strengthened his claim of being the best heavyweight in the world #OnThisDay in 1995 with a devastating performance against Jorge Luis Gonzalez at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.. Brooklyn-born Bowe battered the undefeated Cuban for five rounds and then blasted him out with a right to the head in the sixth round to retain his WBO heavyweight crown. "I'm sorry for him," Bowe said. "I'm not mad anymore." It was sweet revenge for Bowe, who had been knocked down and beaten by Gonzalez in the Pan American Games in Indianapolis back in 1987.
