Hi everyone I wanted to let you know that Tom has done a little piece for Box Clever - an excerpt from one of their plays called Sixteen which will be shown on their YouTube channel

"things in a home away from home”, my box clever collection 

For my box, I have collected things around my home that I find visually inspiring. Moving away from home into a new home gave me a fresh start with my belongings, however this made it much more difficult to collect items for this project. All items in my box hold significant meaning to me. I chose a lot of colourful items as colour is my main form of inspiration. I enjoy brightly coloured things, and like this to be reflected in my work.

We presented our box collection in DG15, then we walked around and saw other students’ box collection.

My Box Collection is a story, it shows insomnia. Nowadays, people have a lot of pressure. Most come from work and study, they even work all night. In order to help them refresh, they have to drink teas and coffee. But always doing in this way, it is bad for the health. They will have an illness, like insomnia.

In the process of insomnia is very painful, so I find the band-aid to show the pain. People want to sleep, but they cannot sleep, their emotion is terrible, so I find some messy things. Besides, they have to find some methods to help them fall asleep. Such as having medicine. If insomnia becomes seriously, they need to go to the hospital to have an injection. What’s more,  I find some patterns that make people feel dizzy. Lavender is the important object in the collection. Because it can reduce stress and help for the sleep. I think if people cannot sleep well all the time if they have less time to have the break, they will get old quickly and easily, the appearance and inside is different. In the fact, it likes decay. So I find decayed orange, it also shows fruit and plants become decay without the water. It is the same conception with insomnia. Furthermore, I found a clock and blinder patch that shows sleep.

The primary color I chose are blue and purple, they show the depressed atmosphere.

According to this project, I want to tell people that we need to keep fit and have a regular time in our life.

After this box presentation, I knew we need to refer more, see more and learn more.
