IN THE STUDIO |  BOY KONG

We’re checking out the creative home art studio of artist Boy Kong, whose wicked Goat Pusher mural for Thrasher’s Death Match was featured on our Monday Murals. Now we’re taking a peek into his creative zone where we find out what a typical day at his studio is like as well as what he has on his walls for inspiration.  Take the leap below.

Can you describe to folks a little about your studio or creative art space? My art studio is usually from my house. I do most of my work on a table and wood  sculpture are done on the porch and sometimes in house. The downside about having a studio in house is the temptation to take naps on the job. I feel most comfortable working from my personal space where time is irrelevant.  

What’s a typical day in the studio like for you?   Basically wake up and work. I prefer to work in silence. Eat, work, rest.

What type of things do you keep around the studio to inspire you or motivate you? What’s the most significant piece of wall art or inspiration you have in the space? My shrine. It's has a little bit of everything. Buddhas, Jesus, bones, rocks, twigs and sticks. Just random finds.  A piece I treasure is a painting  called "Baby hates my music" by Kristian Glynn. He is a great friend and artist. What’s the weirdest thing you’ve seen around your studio or out the studio window? A opossum walking under my desk. What cool new projects are you currently working on in the studio? Working on making more sculptures just for fun. Whose studio would you like to peek into? I want to look into all the studios I can. I'm just curious.
