“You’re just the expert of amicable break ups, or something.” Logan doesn’t think about Oscar saying that when one of Mia’s friends comes into his work the summer after graduation and asks if he’s “finally dating that Australian boy.” He says no, because he’s not, and she leaves appearing unconvinced. Logan can barely remember her name, but for some reason, he’s upset she doesn’t know Oscar’s. It makes him feel weirdly sick. He daydreams about crawling into a bucket of live bait and waiting to be thrown out to the water, seeing who will latch onto him first.

IT'S BEEN 84 YEARS (three months)... i hope this waters ur crops. 16k words of boyish loscar back on the table. my semester is almost over and i might explode if i don't finish this fic soon i have been dying to share the ending with you all <3 if anyone remembers me saying i was afraid of chapter 12 please know it kicked my ass way harder than i ever dreamed it could. WIP WEDNESDAY SNIPPET PLEASE A LITTLE TREAT

OKAY. i can be convinced. happy wip wednesday. pray for them they're fucking stupid

Oscar looks up at him sharply, and his eyes are big, and he’s bright red. “Are you thinking about it?” Logan clears his throat. Turns slightly, folding his hands not-so-subtly in front of himself. “Define thinking about it.” It feels easier than saying yes. Anything would probably be easier than saying yes. “Logan,” Oscar— kind of whines, which definitely doesn’t help. Logan rolls his lips into his mouth, tries willing his mind to go completely blank when Oscar stands up and kind of hip-checks him, slamming the drawer shut. But now they’re close, and Logan can smell Oscar’s shampoo, and he wants to touch him, and he always wants to touch him, but— it’s different right now. Logan tries holding his breath, barely turning his head to look at Oscar, who is already looking at him. His eyes are still big. He’s still bright red. Logan knows that if he touched his face, he would feel the warmth, the same way he can feel Oscar’s breath on his face right now. “Either I kiss you,” Logan says slowly, feeling the words out in his mouth, too, like they’re coming without any pre-thought, “or I can go take, like, the longest, coldest shower of my life.”

“It is supposed to make that noise,” Logan says, half-grinning, tapping at the bare skin just underneath Oscar’s far sleeve. Oscar glares at him, but he settles a bit, crossing his arms lazily over his chest. “You’re not afraid of heights, are you, baby?” “No,” Oscar huffs. And he looks out the window, staring directly at the trees beneath them, as if to prove it. An annoying-voiced announcement comes on to tell them where they’re going—as if they don’t already know—and they’re both silent through it. “Should we have sat on opposite sides?” Oscar asks, after the announcement is through. “For, like, weight distribution?” “Eh, doesn’t matter,” Logan dismisses. He’s only pretty sure it doesn’t—the attendant at the station didn’t tell them to sit opposite each other, so it should be alright. “Why, do you not want to sit next to me?” He’s teasing, nosing a bit at Oscar’s cheek, who laughs and elbows him lightly. “I was just asking.” Logan hums. Turns and looks over his shoulder, down at where the station is. Gondolas going in the other direction pass them slowly, some with characters decorating the windows, some without. Logan shifts to pull his phone out of his back pocket, flipping open the camera like muscle memory, and he holds it up in front of them with a grin. Oscar notices near-immediately, perhaps used to Logan’s antics, but Logan still says, “Smile, baby.” Oscar smiles with his teeth, and Logan takes one with their faces close and one kissing Oscar’s cheek. He sends them both to Oscar and is still looking at the second one when their gondola rolls down into the station, making that same noise again, and Oscar doesn’t tense.

The way his insides have been tipped over is familiar, non-overwhelming. He almost feels like it should feel bigger, like more, but— it was just Logan. He knows how to handle Logan. And maybe he likes that things never seem to change between them. It’s a constant; steadfast, a piece of himself he knows he can always fall back on. Just the two of them, a set of steady, parallel lines, stretching infinitely into a future where they remain alongside each other.

hey man. this chapter drove me so off the walls insane that i 1) wrote nearly 25k words in 4 days and 2) WROTE NEARLY 25K WORDS IN 4 DAYS? sorry. a lot happens in this one. i nearly lost my whole entire mind writing it so enjoy <3 it is now Your problem.

side note. be the 100k word fic you want to see in your favorite rarepair tag, they said. it will be fun, they said (i promise i am having fun. it is just also 4 in the morning)

“Give me your hand,” Oscar says decisively, presenting his own for Logan to set his in. He only bothers with half a suspicious look, but does as he’s told, and Oscar slicks up two of Logan’s fingers. “I’ll help you,” he promises, guiding both their hands back between Logan’s thighs. “Just trust me.”

“Always trust you,” Logan mutters. Oscar’s face is warm.

“Just—” Oscar starts, and Logan hisses through his teeth when he gets his finger in the right place. “You’ve done it to me,” Oscar continues, pushing on the back of Logan’s hand a bit, “now do it to yourself.”

“This isn’t fair,” Oscar manages, his voice weak and pressed between his lips. Logan is close enough that all he can think about are his stupid green eyes. “You’re— what are you into, Logan?” Logan tips his head to the side, grin subsiding a bit, almost like he’s thinking about it. Oscar will swear he sees his eyes flick down to his mouth, but they’re back up so quickly he's convinced he made it up entirely, so he just leans back a little further. The edge of the counter is digging into his back, and he could probably force his way out from between Logan’s arms if he really wanted to, but— maybe he doesn’t. In spite of the extended silence, Logan just asks, “In girls or guys?” Oscar swallows. “Guys.”

Think that does something to my brain.” And he doesn’t know how to say it, that maybe all the parts of Florida that feel like home really are just Logan, so he leaves it there. Leaves the rest of it to pick at the parts of himself that have shifted over the years; not falling out of place, but instead sliding back in.

HELLO. it is 3 am. as per. but here is chapter 10 of boyish... hehe. did the thing where i started writing it promptly after posting ch9 then exploded for a bit in the middle there and wrote the bulk of this in like the past three days. trust the process. we got there eventually (+ if i had rushed it i would not have gotten to include my favorite evil line! look for the evilest line it's like a scavenger hunt)
