Are Christians at the mercy of a broken world? . I used to think so. I got annoyed when people would say that everything happens for a reason. I thought it was the most pat and unthoughtful answer ever. I felt drawn to the descriptions of a God who will only presently weep for us, unable to conflict with our will and the will of our oppressors. #boywasiwrong . Jews recognize that all power comes from God. Satan has none of his own, but only that which he was created with. Ultimately, as we see in the story Job, of the crucifixion, and of the use of an evil spirit by God against King Saul, and the stoey of Joseph, God can and sometimes does subvert the evil will of the creatures that He created with power in order to bring about His own will. . The saying, God is in control, is utterly and utmostly, TRUE in the ending culmination of events. . I think it all comes down to submission. Are you willing to only take candy and not tears for His ultimate good, from God's steady hand? Are you willing to trust that despite our judgements, whatever God chooses to do and however, God is GOOD? This smacks in the face of the popluar universalist teachings on salvation. How could a good god _____? . What used to seem to be a shallow answer to me, is now a deep an solid abdinging faith in the goodness of God - yes, God is in control. . I really didn't understand it untill I started reading about OT culture and points of veiw. I may write an exanpsion of this on my blog soon when I have time. For now, I want to leave you by encouraging you - love Him, trust Him, have peace about His descions for you. He is all powerful and all good. Nothing evil shall prosper against you in the end.
