"It's just for fun" Dante says, as he allows Lyn to drag him to her design room and measure him for hours on end, then try on the clothes she hand-made herself as well as everything she's done despite him never letting anyone else do this to him. He'll stand still for literal hours just so she can get the perfect measurements. Styled his hair and took pictures and all, and everytime she giggled, he smiled. She was full and alive like the bright dresses she spent hours making, something that had died in Dante long ago.
"It's just for fun" Dante says, as he travels across the city with Julian to meet his family. His two parents, all seven siblings, and a few uncles/aunts/nieces/nephews that talked to him for hours on end, and wanting to leave as soon as he got there, but he saw how happy Julian looked, so he shut up and stayed. He never usually stayed around for someone like that before. When he smiled, so did Dante. He was full and alive like a light, something Dante had not experienced for a long time.
"It's purely for fun" Dante says, as he travels to another country with Julian and Lyn that he paid for wholeheartedly because the two of them have always wanted to go to Switzerland. They spend a week there in a romantic vacation, dinner reservations to all the right restaurants Dante knew they would enjoy, walking along the hike trail during the sunset so they could go see the waterfalls... Oh, and the overall expensive hotel experience that neither of them know how Dante can afford it, and he simply smiles and says he's saved up (he's rich and hasn't told them). They were full and alive the entire week, and Dante had never been happier.
"It was fun while it lasted" Dante says as they slept, caressing Lyn's cheek and brush his fingers through Julian's hair one final time. Julian was going to die soon, and there wasn't anything he could do. Dante could tell them the truth, then offer him the cruel gift of immortality of blood feasting forever alongside Lyn. Or, they would shun him away. Julian will die, and Lyn will be too broken for Dante to fix. He is not a fixer, he was always made to create problems. And yet, the one time he didn't, he still feels like he is punished.
Dante leaves, pushing down their fun memories together as he walks through the door one final time. His lips stay in a frown as he walks alone through the streets.
His heart has been still for a long time, but tonight, his strings remind him he too was once full and alive.
