Have some Orca in extreme discomfort and Hawks seeing himself and going ‘ew’

“Take a seat,” Hawks motioned at the chair. He closed his eyes for a brief moment when Orca complied but did so with his back facing the chair.

Orca grimaced, discomfort clear as the back of the wings pressed into the wood. 

“Sit with your chest facing the back,” Hawks said calmly. 

“Ah,” Orca nodded. “That would make sense.”

“It sure would.”

How dare he look embarrassed with Hawk’s face. He was so open with his expressions, and seeing that kind of vulnerability on his own face made Hawk’s stomach churn with nausea. As soon as this was done he was jumping right back in to tracking down the bastard that could fix this. The longer they were like this the riskier it would be.

“Okay,” Hawks relaxed once Orca was facing away from him. “Stretch out my left wing, we’ll do this one at a time.”

Both wings extended.

“Just the left one,” Hawks repeated. “If you hold both like that for the whole time my- your back will cramp.”

It took a few tries. In the end the right wing was down but it clearly held a lot of tension forcing it to stay that way. He’d have to massage between the shoulder blades when he was done. At least it would be easier to reach.

Hawks lifted his hand and placed it on the left wing. He paused.

Orca’s hands were large. Ridiculously so. He could easily fix the primaries if they needed it, but his primaries weren’t the problems. How was he supposed to reach the coverts? The secondary feathers maybe, but his scapulars? He had to be careful with those using his own hands, there was no way to do this with Orca’s that wouldn’t end in a lot of pain. 

Hawks didn’t realize he’d moved to rub the bridge of his nose until his hand slapped his own face, misjudging the distance of where his nose began.

“Hawks?” Orca turned to look at him, the right wing automatically springing up to join the left as soon as he was distracted.

“I can’t do all of these right away,” Hawks told him, not bothering to sound happy. Orca had already figured out enough to make that pointless. “I need a brush, a comb, dust, probably tweezers. I can get the big ones but not the ones you were talking about.”

Orca shifted in his chair, trying not to look disappointed or uncomfortable and failing spectacularly. Hawks felt a shiver of disgust roll down his spine at seeing his own face waver and fall. 

“This must be very difficult for you,” Orca said. He sounded genuinely sympathetic. 

“Not as hard as it is for you,” Hawks brushed the concern off. Being bigger and bulkier was weird, and there were some oddities here and there that were difficult to keep in mind, but feeling like the entire world was muffled with a heavy blanket thrown over him had to be leagues better then suddenly having every movement screaming at you. If Hawks had a blanket thrown over him Orca probably felt more like his skin was being flayed off with how sensitive he suddenly was. The scapular feathers out of place must be driving him insane.

Thank god they weren’t molting.

Hawks glanced at the clock on the wall. Apparently his internal clock was biological instead of trained because he found himself losing track of time at the most irritating moments. 

They had to keep up appearances. He had to go to the stupid agency meeting because Orca thought those were important and if he suddenly didn’t show up then there would be questions. Orca himself would complain too, probably. 

“I’ll do what I can, but do you think you can hold out until tomorrow?”

Orca nodded even as every muscle in his body (Hawks’ body, looking so clearly stressed a baby would be able to tell) tensed in protest.

“Of course,” he sounded strained. 

“I’ll text everyone that needs to know that you- that I won’t be doing any patrols tomorrow so you can stay in all day.”

Because Hawks didn’t give people the chance to keep track of his schedule. Showing up or disappearing, that was in Hawks hands alone so long as the Commission didn’t need him for something specific.

“Will no one question where you are?” Orca pulled lightly at the right wing to lower it again as Hawks got to work. 

“No.”

Hawks fumbled with his primaries, doing his best to keep his touch light and gentle. The only plus side was that from this angle he could easily move everything he could reach around to where it needed to be. He plucked a crooked secondary with an odd break, wanting so badly to raise an eyebrow that he didn’t have. 

Orca flushed and Hawks had to look away before his irritation returned. 

“I lost my balance this morning and hit the wall rather oddly.”

Hawks did not picture himself fumbling around his own apartment like a newborn foal because if he did he doubted he’d be able to eat dinner later. 

“It’s fine, it’ll grow back fast.”

Due to Talia’s sheltered upbringing she rarely chatted with others outside her family. While she was regarded as a princess, it was clear she took a non-binary gender and was only regarded as a princess when necessary. 

When she visited Hoshido, she wanted to connect with her true family, but her lack of social skills was hindering. She found a strong connection with Azura due to their similar upbringing and they became close. It was clear that she didn’t think much of romantic love, even as the war broke out. 

Enter her brother’s retainer Laslow, who would play flirt with any girl he saw, Talia no exception. Goaded by Odin, he approached the ‘Stone Dragon’. While the flirting had no effect, Talia was grateful for the conversation and would occasionally help Laslow brush up his flirting skills. Laslow appreciated her help and letting him fall back to flirting when nervous, while Talia enjoyed his optimistic nature and hidden shyness. 

The day Laslow came to Talia talking of heartache was a revelation for her. That neither wanted to be parted from the other, despite what the future held. Soon after they were engaged and married, with Kana and Soleil joining from the Deeprealm once they were old enough. Once the war was over the family returned to Laslow’s, rather, Inigo’s, world and spent the rest of their lives in peace

mini hawks... i'm imagining the Tiniest little bird right now and i need to know More

I feel like you will be slightly disappointed in that this is not about a very tiny Hawks. Although, now that you’ve put the thought in my head... XD

It’s about Hawks in a No-quirk AU where he’s just a high school kid doing his own thing except he has a swarm of birds that do his bidding. His main one is a small Hawks that has a damaged wing from a bad break when it was a chick. That one is almost always with him. He also commands an army of pigeons, hummingbirds, Carmine Bee-Eaters, Ravens, Crows, etc. If it’s a bird, it will adore him and somehow pull off whatever task he asks of it. 

I just have a lot of bullet-point plans of scenes so nothing great to share yet. It’s just a bunch of crack scenes of all the cast in the same or rivaling high schools with them all doing their own dumbass things with random bird kid Hawks coming in and adding to the chaos for his own amusement. Also bonding. Hawks is a third year. Midoriya and Co. are first years. The League is spread out throughout all the years. Same for the pros except for a few that are teachers. The most concrete thing I have is Jeanist comes to him because he found a little injured swallow and he wanted to know how to take care of it. Hawks is horrified that the swallow’s head feathers have the same swoop of Jeanist’s hair. It’s a perfect match.

Hi! I just finished reading the most recent chapter of Hawks-sensei and I love it! I was wondering if there were going to be any big changes in the plot at some point. You've stuck to Canon pretty well, but it looks like there are a lot of build up things that might change that? (I'm also really curious about if you're going to change anything about the hero rankings, that's one of my top fave Hawks moments) Thank you for sharing your writing!

Awww! Thank YOU for being so sweet! 

I am absolutely planning on chucking canon out the window at some point, but up until then all the major plot points are going to stay relatively the same. There are going to be some changes in the Overhaul Arc (seeing as how Hawks is there and involved now) and the I’m going to get to the High End fight before saying ‘ta-ta’ to Canon. XD

The Hero Ranking event is going to stay pretty much exactly the same, sorry if you were wanting a change there dove! There will be more interaction between Hawks and the other Pro heroes there, and some more student reactions, but the rankings and speeches all stay the same.

...Although. I did write a thing a while back of what I might change if I could. XD I’ll post it below the cut. Have the ‘what if scenario I really like but will likely never use unless I turn it into an entirely different fic’!

Hawks didn’t bother reading the pamphlet, just stuffing it in his pocket and joining the line right next to Endeavor. He could feel a lot of eyes on him but that was to be expected. 

He sniffed, rubbing at his nose as he peered past Edgeshot (who was staring at him too for some reason) to wave at Rumi.

She was looking at the pamphlet with wide eyes. Hawks blinked when she whipped her head up so fast it cracked.

“Hawks, holy shit-”

The little buzzer went off, signaling them that it was time to walk out. Rumi looked shocked but not tense or worried. Whatever she was freaking out about could wait until after the ceremony.

Hawks turned forward, very carefully stomping down the excited leap his heart made at being so close to his hero (he had a plan here today, he couldn’t let his views of Endeavor get in the way of that) only to freeze when he realized Endeavor was facing him.

“What’s up?” he grinned, with just a hint of mocking because apparently he couldn’t contain himself. At least he wasn’t flustering like a teenager. The kids would mock him for the rest of his life, even if they weren’t here to see it. They would find out somehow, he just knew it.

Endeavor opened his mouth but the woman directing them on stage gave a pointed clear of her throat. Instead he scowled and grabbed Hawks by the shoulder of his jacket.

“Um,” Hawks blinked as he was pulled forward and pushed out first.

The cameras immediately started flashing, all attention turning to him.

Hawks waved like he’d totally meant to come out first (what the hell Endeavor?!) and just went with it. This would make good fodder for teasing later, and it wasn’t like he cared where he stood.

The speeches started up. Hawks made sure to show his extreme disinterest and distaste. God, what a waste of time. He could be doing so many other things. He had to miss work for this! Snipe had volunteered to sub for him but Hawks really wanted to be there for his own damn class. At least this would show the League that he really didn’t care for this kind of thing. 

“Let’s move on to Endeavor, who has kept his title as the Number Two hero going strong,” the announcer said.

Hawks felt the world crawl to a stop.

What.

Endeavor opened his mouth and did not correct them. 

“Watch me,” he said, like an idiot what the hell was he doing he should be correcting them he was the number one hero now what the fuck-

“-Hawks, who has jumped from number three all the way to Number One! This may be the first time any hero has risen to the top in both popularity polls and incidents resolved outside of All Might himself! Hawks, do you have any words you would like to share as Japan’s new Number One Hero?”

Hawks blinked at the microphone in his face. He turned down the line where everyone was staring at him. He looked at the audience that was staring at him.

“Uh, no.”

XD And then, because I wrote this for the Hawks-sensei verse I wondered how the kid would react. One of them reacts with great enthusiasm. 

“Good morning Hawks-sensei,” Todoroki greeted with a smile.

Hawks screeched to a halt, mouth dropping open. Several of the students seated around Todoroki turned in their seats to stare at the dual-toned boy.

He blinked at them, face smoothing out.

“Good morning, Todoroki-kun,” Hawks parroted back. “You’re in a good mood today.”

Both of these are amalgamations of sleepless ramblings.

First Class Child Care: Cloud Strife

-Tifa did not stumble upon our blonde haired dumbass. The children of the Leaf House did. He’s basically the FM (facility manager) of the Leaf House. Repairs, cleanups, aggressive bodyguard, and he has the apron. With the dog. The cute daycare apron. 

-Of course this means he hangs out with Aerith all the time. Just like in the game he absolutely becomes everyone’s errand boy but he is dedicated to the Leaf House. 

-Biggs is the one from Avalanche that knows him. But doesn’t invite him. Cause he’s the biggest threat deterrent for the Leaf House, no way is he gonna put that in jeopardy. 

-I have no idea what the plot would do. It’s just a bunch of moments of Cloud being easily shoved into things by the kids cause he’s too socially awkward and huge pushover for them mixed with superhuman acts of strength and ability when anyone from the main cast shows up. Turks? Tossed out by the scruff of their necks. Avalanche? Same. 

Materia Body Swap:

-They typical materia mishaps that cause scientifically impossible things to happen. I’m not sure at what point in time this would be best for, or if it should be like a time-travel added effect too, but basically Avalanche, Marlene, and maybe Denzel depending on the time frame all get body swapped. 

-Literally the only sure thing I absolutely want to happen is that Cloud ends up as Marlene. 

-Just imagine that. Little murder Marlene, kicking out your knees and taking lives. 

-If time travel is involved, picture a very little Marlene, no hesitation, going for the decapitation shot on Sephiroth. 

It’s every thing I could ever want.

I knew you would focus on this one XD

Literally the only Hawks interacting with Wash thing I will ever write. Because I love you. 

Five times Hawks met the same random civilian and the one time he realized it was Wash

-Hawks sent his feathers to cut through the debris, physically snagging the civilian off the ground before they could do anything stupid.

“I know it must be exciting seeing all this up close, but you really shouldn’t run towards danger,” he called over the wind, pulling them up so he could fling their arm over his shoulder while he flew. 

Wide eyes blinked at him, devoid of any of the fear normal people had when faced with an entire street collapsing around them.

Hawks blinked back. “You again,” he sighed. 

The small man beamed, waving as best he could.

“Two is usually the max number of times I have to save the same person,” Hawks deadpanned. “This is your third. Aiming for a record?”

The man shook his head. He pointed behind them at the villain and punched his fist into his open palm.

“...You were going to beat him up?”

The man nodded.

“You got a hero license on you?”

Even before the man froze and rubbed the back of their head sheepishly Hawks already knew the answer. Hawks knew the faces of all the heroes in Japan, and this guy wasn’t one of them.

“Then I’m gonna have to ask you to please stay out of the danger zone over there and leave it to someone that does.”

The man furrowed his brown, waving his hand around in an attempt at sign language. Hawks twisted and arched, throwing them between two more large pieces of debris. The man made  a weird shrieking sound, clinging to him in a way that almost cut of his air circulation.
