Fresh Veggies - Casey Veggies & Rockie Fresh
It's kind of funny that I actually like this album. I'm not very fond of Casey Veggies or Rockie Fresh, but somehow they've come together, and made a dope ass album. The "Fresh Veggies" album doesn't even sound good in theory, but the music is actually outstanding. There's an abundance of features on here, from my favorite with Overdoz to my least favorite with Juicy J. I think working under MMG lead veggies to take a more pop like approach when creating the songs, which is probably why this album is better than a majority of his latest work.
Hardaway - Brandon Fxrd & Berry Bank$
Brandon Fxrd's latest with Berry Bank$ has me wondering if he'll ever work with another producer. Each of their sounds seems handcrafted for each other, which on a majority of the songs leads to a perfect lego-like fit. I know this project just released, but its quickly becoming a favorite in my opinion. The gritty production is truly a standout, but there's range. Like on the track "Break The Rim" You can really hear the capabilities of the two artists in tandem.
How Fly - Curren$y & Wiz Khalifa
This album already topped my Curren$y list, so it should be no surprise that it's back on my list of best collaborations. Is there even much more I can say about the infinitely classic hip-hop album. Take two of the best stoner rappers around, throw em on the same album around their peak times, insert smooth production. Instant classic. This dropped in 09, and I still listen to it like it dropped last year.
Pinata - Freddie Gibbs & Madlib
This is everybody's favorite Freddie Gibbs project. Y'all already knew "Pinata" was gonna be on this list. I think a lot of people were pleasantly surprised with this album. On paper it doesn't seem to be plausible in all honesty. Freddie Gibbs. One of the grittiest & hard hitting street rappers to grace the waves since the 90s & Madlib; An undeniable GOAT within the genre of hip-hop. Essentially the great-grandfather of all left field/underground producers. If you've listened to "Pinata" I shouldn't have to explain to you why this album is here.
Rare Chandeliers - Action Bronson & The Alchemist
This IS the best Action Bronson album to date. Don't mention me talking about Mr.Wonderful, Saaab Stories, or Blue Chips. They can't hold a Bath & Body Works candle to the GOAT. I mean Alchemist is easily in my top 5 favorite producers, and coupled with Bronson's vintage and often outlandish bars; You've got a hit on your hands. Everything that's said in this album is off the wall, but the production does a great job of keeping it grounded. Hopefully these two are working on a re-up. I know they'll deliver just like the 1st time.
Madvillainy - MF Doom & Madlib
Now would a list of the best collaborations even count if "Madvillainy" wasn't a part of it? Absolutely not. I always have a hard time putting this project into words. It's unlike anything you've ever heard on the side of hip-hop/rap. This is probably the best left field hip-hop album to ever grace this green earth. If you don't agree I probably won't consider your opinion on hip-hop in general even relevant.
Beast Mode - Future & Zaytoven
This isn't my favorite out of the trio of legendary Future tapes, but when it comes to the collaborative process I think Future & Zaytoven have something that the others simply can't reach. Zaytoven brings his unmatched melodies, and since Future like to sing (sometimes) this project just has to take the cake. It creates an almost perfect harmony. It's the fanciest of all of futures project. When white people listen to future they turn on "Beast Mode"
