• Trobairitz Syrah Cask • @bdqbeerco 🇨🇵 • Saision • 6.8% ABV Trobairitz were female troubadours in 12th-13th century Occitania. A Trobairitz composed, wrote verses, and performed for the Occitan noble courts. They are exceptional in musical history as the first known female composers of Western secular music. The Castle ( Chateau Puivert) close to the Quercorb taproom hosted large gatherings for these troubadours. I guess that's the reason behind the name of this beer. History lesson done. Onto the beer! This Saison has been aged for 9 months on @domainegayda Moscou Chemin 30 Syrah Casks. It pours cloudy yellow. Big white head. Fades rather quickly and leaves a small lacing. Bubbly. I did mix in the bottom sediment. Aroma dominated by oak and vinous notes. Brett like Yeast. Herbal and tarty scents and a low hoppiness, Creamy mouthfeel and medium carbonated. The taste follows suit. Oaky and vinous. Sweet fruits, apricot and slight peppery notes gives grear company to the low malty foundation. Bitter and dry finish. First time I have had an BA Saison. Fantastic. I love it.
