more bad things happening in bratva au.... consider ilya getting shot and everyone is waiting for shane to go fucking nuts about it but he just doesn't . he tells sveta or whoever to handle it and then ALL of his attention is focused Solely on ilya. like that's his fucking baby . he's checking his stitches and kissing his head and washing his hair for him and and and....... or the reverse..... shane getting shot..... much to think about.......
oooOOOooo the post-shooting aftercare that's my fave... (general tw for gun talk/gun violence)
Ilya gets shot very unexpectedly, he's going to inspect a shipment of drugs that just came, but another gang got tipped off to their location and ambush Ilya and the other men he's with. they're able to handle things pretty well but Ilya still gets a nasty shot to his gut. the other men he's with are having a "no YOU call him" back and forth about who's going to cal Shane about it.
But when Shane shows up he's so eerily calm, brings Svetlana and some other people he trusts to check the scene and move the product somewhere else, while he just leans down next to where Ilya is on the ground with his jacket pressed to his stomach. "Ilya, let me see." "I am fine, zaika, I have had worse" "you dumbass. get in the car." And he has to all but drag Ilya to their car and take him to the nearest Rozanov-aligned hospital (where Shane has already called ahead to block off a private wing).
Ilya goes in for surgery to get the bullet removed and get stitched up, and then Shane takes him home once he's discharged. he's Strict with giving Ilya his antibiotics and his vitamins and keeping his stitches clean and bandaged, he's so careful and precise that Ilya's private doctor jokes that Shane really should've looked into studying medicine. Ilya keeps trying to make light of it like "you are very sexy nurse, I should have bought you little white dress" and Shane is so pissy about it like "you fucking idiot, why did you turn your back on the door? You could've bled out and then what the fuck was I supposed to do?" and then he gives Ilya a protein shake and cuddles into his side. (Ilya very graciously does not bring up that Shane technically died first).
If Shane gets shot it's very similar, Ilya is very fussy over him but also a little scared to take care of Shane on his own. He's constantly calling their doctor to come over for the smallest things, even to change Shane's bandages at first.
What throws Ilya off the most is how shaken Shane is over the whole thing. He's never been shot before; the closest he came was getting a fake bullet to his side when he was in combat training at the police academy, and he was wearing a bulletproof vest then. The real things is very different. So he has bad nightmares about it, and as a result is constantly on meds to help him sleep. He gets quiet, which scares the shit out of Ilya because when it's just the two of them, Shane is a yapper. One night Ilya is brushing Shane's hair for him after Shane's bath, and he hears Shane quietly go "I was really scared. When it happened, I mean. One time I read that when you die from a gunshot, it happens so fast you don't even hear the gun go off. And I don't remember hearing a gunshot, maybe I was too out of it, so...I thought I was dead." Ilya drops the comb, pulls Shane to his chest and just holds him there until Ilya's shirt is soaked from Shane's wet hair. The next morning he looks into ordering a customized bulletproof voice that Shane can wear under his clothes.
