Julia, the lovely Brazilian journalist from salvador whom i met during the Paralympic games asked if i would want to join her and her family for dinner one evening on our way back from the Stadium. I couldn't say no to this random but kind invitation. I knew it would be an amazing experience right away. And it was... the Lizboas gave me the warmth of a family thousands of miles away from my own. We sat for hours at a beautiful italian restaurant drinking wine talking about life, different cultures, and languages. Best one was, when they compared Portuguese to Brazilians. Ironic enough is that their last name is Portuguese. 😆i found so much joy and happiness talking to each one of them. By the end, we were all singing Bruce Springsteen's Streets of Philadelphia. Thank you Julia and all the Lizboas for your warmth and hospitality and for another unforgettable night in Rio.
