What style is Tammy's hair in? Locs? Braids? Twists?

Hi hi. So it's funny Tammy's hair has gone through several designs. I originally didn't fully think about it. I was just drawing a black girl with textured hair in a fun style. Because our hair is so capable of doing different things . But I've been more intentional with thinking about it lately. I know it doesn't make a whole lot of sense lmao but her hair is two locs in the front and two locs in the back that if she takes it down can become 4 loc in the back. and her hair is textured 4c. Cartoon logic. I think in a fantasy sense we can be a little flexible with black hairstyles and unique with them. Like we can have goku hair.. but make it textured. Does it make a whole lotta sense? Nah. is it fun ? Absolutely. haha. My friend Zomi did some fanart I posted recently and did Tammy's hair this way. And I really do love it! So if anyone wanted to draw her hair fully with locs I think that's lovely. vs my fun taking liberties on things.

My own hair is a TWA with 4C texture haha.

This is how Tammy's hair used to look when I wasn't fully thinking about it way back when I designed this " nameless girl with glasses" back in 2017. Along with some later sketches of her looking closer to how she is now.

Hello again it's me, the tumblr user who has latched onto TTT pretty hard XD Finally got around to listening to the post modern art podcast all the way through, it's so funny that Jogailla and Darius started out as one dude.

My interest was really piqued by the thought of Jogailla and Darius also representing Tammy's desires for things to just stay the same forever vs the necessity of change, how nostalgia is a liar and the grass always feels greener on the other side. That's such a fun dynamic to add to the love triangle!! It's already got me thinking about Jogailla's likelihood for self sabotage if he clings endlessly to the parts that don't change, but also find it interesting that *he's* the one pursuing witch magic, which is a huge Break from the norm, and then there's Darius's desire for change but his timidity causes him to meekly go along with the status quo, that's SO juicy. I am REALLY looking forward to that coming through in future episodes <3

Also the "some people may think that it's cringe but That Is The Point" MOOOOOOOD!!!! I love love LOVE stuff that is silly and frankly ridiculous but nevertheless sincere and heartfelt. Thats my JAM that is my bread and BUTTER! We love to see you chit chatting with a guy who GETS IT.

TEAM TAMMY HAS TWO HANDS!!!!! WE WIN THESE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am Also team Sia and he has immaculate taste uwu. I DO like that the canon is that they're better off as friends tho, don't get me wrong. It's always a point of high interest for me whenever characters Acknowledge the importance of their relationship and that romance is a possible option, even if it doesn't work out romantically and they prefer friendship. That's so compelling for me. That said I DO want to eventually get around to drawing them kissing because I contain multitudes and Sia is cute and fun.

What a nice podcast! I put it on to keep me company while i was playing stardew valley as it snowed outside. As always, it's a delight to hear about your project, and I am looking forward to everything and anything Three Tomes in the future! <3

Yeah haha... I think this was the last drawing I did before Jogailla and Darius became two separate entities. This was a sketch I did in early 2021. And these were " nameless ghost hunting teens" Nameless edgy boy was very much a Murdoc clone.. I was going through a re-obsession with Gorillaz at the time haha.

These were some of the first sketches I did of " Greg the vampire kid" around 2017-2018.

And these were some of my first drawings of Darius and Alonzo mid 2021 before they had names. It's kinda funny in the second notebook sketch I literally have Darius and Jogailla splitting from each other haha.

And yes haha, Darius and Jogailla represent two ends of the spectrum for what Vampirism can mean to someone which also intertwines with Tammy's anxieties about change in her life. Those ideals clash and they have to work them out.

Also please do draw Sia and Tammy kissing if ya want. Since they did date it's absolutely dope to see someone's interpretation of what that would look like, even if it would have been brief since they realized they like each other a lot but friendship was preferred.

I'm glad you enjoyed the pod, and it makes me happy how much you enjoy these characters and this story. I genuinely get a little insecure thinking that folks aren't interested, but I get reminded that this world is genuinely of interest when I get asks like this from folks like you, or get fanart or see comments on the pilot or on artwork etc...

All of that lets me know that folks like these little guys and want to see their journey and I want to do my best to bring that to everyone and do it for myself.

Also do we know which family member passed? My instincts say it's Tammy's dad but I suppose it could just as easily be a grandfather or uncle.

Tammy's grandfather passed away roughly a month prior to the events of the pilot. The grief is still pretty fresh for her.

This storyboard panel is very sweet because the photo of Tammy and her Grandpa was referenced from the board artists real photo that he took with his grandparent before they passed. I lost my grandmother to cancer in 2016. A few months after I graduated college the year prior. So Tammy's journey with grief and trying to be avoidant of changes in her life is a examination of a journey I had to take myself.

Though I went to therapy.... I did not have a magical adventure with vampires and witches and my best friend lmao.

So Lord Chaos says it's been months since the green light went off, but Sia says "three days" of no hocus pocus. What's the time frame looking like here?

Howdy! Ahhhh. I think you mighta misheard. Lord Chaos says " That energy we felt several MOONS ago...." not MONTHS. went back and gave it a listen to just confirm haha and I double checked my script too because I got worried for a second haha. Like... oh shit did I fuck up haha. But yeah the events of the cold open where the spirits from the tome are released, Tammy and Sia meeting Shirley and the capture of the wind spirit being one night to the events of the pilot happen within 1 week. Sia saying it's been a few days because it was just a couple days ago that everything went down and Tammy's been having some trouble locking in with the first steps of magick because she's nervous. :)

Do we know what happens to a witch who gets turned into a vampire? Can that even happen?

A Witch could indeed become a vampire though no one has ever seen it happen. Witches and vampires usually don't mingle as they're wary of each other. A witch has a connection to magick, dnd energy in a way that others can't access. It's special just to them. A Vampire can LEARN witches magick but it's not quite correct. The magick is off, spells fritz, or are extremely weak in comparison . Hence Jogailla's transportation spell not working quite right when he saves Tammy and the gang. He's trying to ultimately force it. But back to it... If a witch did indeed become a vampire. They could lose connection with their magick, either it's gone completely, or it's a shadow of what it used to be. But because it's on record never happened, no one knows. It's a theory. Of course, a witches power is vast and if combined with a vampire it could also potentially be something terrifying that no one's ever seen. So.. who's to say.
