Last year I picked up a 30 year old bread machine at a yard sale. I used it a couple times, had one over-risen-bread based disaster, and had to put the machine away for a while.

Grocery prices have driven me to cleaning off the burnt remnants from inside the baking box and to start over. I’ve been trying out a bunch of different recipes, and I even got a whole book of them. Even though I’m really just dumping the ingredients into the pan and letting the machine do all the work, there’s something about making your own bread that’s just so… satisfying. I feel like the most powerful witch when I shake another fresh loaf out of the pan.

I need to find a sharpie. I’m going to draw hieroglyphs for “bread offering” on the machine. Anything that comes out of it will by default be an offering. Holy. Blessed.

Like, 3 years ago I picked up a 30-year-old hitachi bread machine from a garage sale. That thing came in clutch. I ended up giving that one to a coworker and buying a newer machine 2nd hand because I wanted a bigger bread pan, except the I got apparently isn't actually a 2lbs loaf pan. I'm lucky if I can get a 1.5lbs recipe to bake in there without it over-rising.

I did it, I finally decided to buy myself a new machine. I did some research and found one that isn't the hugest brand, but I think it's more because they focus their efforts on actually making something good instead of just advertising. They seem to have a cult following. It does everything I want to, I can program it to yell at me when it's time to take out the paddle, and the loaf pan is definitely gonna fit 2lbs recipes. (2lbs seems to be the standard recipe size.).

I'm so frickin' excited to get this thing. Though you'd better bet your bippy that if I find one of the really high end zojirushi's 2nd hand for a good price I'll be jumping on that.

who wants to start a bread religion with me? we'd hold mass in a bakery and sacrifice turnips to please the bread lord. we'd feast on the holiness that is bread and discuss the difference between sheepherders and sourdough. we'd love and be kind but only to those who deserve it and we wont push our beliefs on others and we'll have christmas becasue presents
