Every Record I Own - Day 11: Age s/t

Bremen, Germany’s scene in the ‘90s is grossly under appreciated in today’s hardcore canon. It may not have rivaled major cities like DC or San Diego in terms of the number of classics or the cultural impact of the bands, but nearly every record by every band out of the area is worth investigating. Bands like Acme, Systral, and Mörser were more ferocious and focused than their more widely discussed American counterparts. And even the more emotive stuff out of the completely forgotten Age is at least as good (if not better) than the revered titles on labels like Ebullition and Council Records. At the very least, the last song on the album, “Day #4″, is leaps and bounds better than anything on the emo cornerstone Still Life’s From Angry Heads With Skyward Eyes.

I inherited this LP from a friend who was scaling back his record collection. At some point while I was on tour back in ‘97, a bunch of LPs in my collection mysteriously got water damage on the covers, which I can only attribute to a messy roommate. This one got the worst of it.
