Long lashes fluttered in a blink. After registering Piper’s response, the air of sisterly teasing in Paige’s voice cooled to disappointment. ❝ Ooh, ❞ she said, still perched on the kitchen counter in her plaid miniskirt and sweater. Even back when Paige was single and wasn’t in the market for a serious romance, she would never have turned down a goodnight kiss. Paige guessed from the recount of her sister’s date and the description of the guy she went out with that he was very... traditional. Which wasn’t necessarily a bad thing, but for a woman trying to jump back into the saddle and make up for lost time, that could prevent her from reaching a particular goal of hers anytime soon. Piper might very likely say that her mind was in the gutter if she stated that aloud.
Observing Piper’s uncertain expression, she shook her head and gently piped up to reassure her, ❝ Oh no, honey. It doesn’t have to mean anything bad. ❞
Paige wanted to comfort her, but she wanted to know what this man’s deal was, exactly. The way Piper talked about him, he was a certified dreamboat of a hunk. Which said a lot when the previous lover of her life was a supernatural force in the form of a guardian angel. The only thing was that she didn’t have a clue about him apart from what was shared thus far. Well, they had met at P3, so that showed he had an interest in putting himself out there and meeting brand new people. Boy met girl. Boy liked girl. He had made the first move by asking Piper out for dinner, he had showed her a good time; it could have ended there, but it apparently didn’t. He wanted to see her again, judging by the word choice.
Dark hazel gaze gripped Piper’s, intent on gleaning more information. ❝ Can we go back to the part where you said he wants to ‘wait’? ❞ Paige raised her fingers in the universal gesture for air quotes. ❝ What’s that mean? ❞
