MUSIC VIDEO PREMIERE: Wonky Tonk, “Four Letter Word”
Unadulterated honesty in its rawest form. Jasmine Poole’s (a.k.a Wonky Tonk) “Four Letter Word” is pure genius.
The video unfolds and immediately I’m convinced there is nothing more painstakingly beautiful than Poole herself as she wears her heart on her sleeve. I watch her and she captivates me. My soul wakes up, my eyes are locked with hers and the pure sincerity behind the video leaves me shaken in the most mesmerizing way.
To witness someone in their most honest form is something so rare yet so damn special and Poole does it beautifully. Watching her reminds me of watching a painter let loose on an easel. The life heartbreaks come and the paint starts flying, taking the good, the bad, and the ugly and transforming it into art.
“I’ve had my heart broken/ Once or twice/ And every broken heart led to another vice/ So I hit the road cause my heart had grown cold/ Vice is a four letter word.” With lyrics so painfully genuine and her bare soul laid out before the world, Poole paints the most epic fucking picture.
Not only are the visuals captivating, the instrumentals alone have an effortless glow. The soothing and natural warmth of the guitar mixed with Poole’s sultry vocals makes for the perfect soundtrack for an acoustic Sunday morning.
“Four Letter Word” is brilliant. No bullshit, no tricks or games. Just Poole and her artistry… brave, authentic, and absolutely striking. All these emotions and situations play in our lives but ultimately we all have an underlying bare connection that makes us human. Poole gets me in touch with that, the simplicity and rawness of life.
Poole herself is art. Identifying her as a singer/songwriter is an understatement. She literally embodies art and there is nothing more fucking stunning than that. Her spirit leaves my heart full, my mind inspired and I’m far too excited to share another heartbreak with her soon.
