The Spinto Band: Everyone Got What They Wanted

The Spinto Band and filmmaker Nate Johnson created this live music/documentary film called The Spinto Band: Everyone Got What They Wanted back in 2012. I had no idea this film existed until yesterday. I was online looking to see if The Spinto Band where going on tour anytime soon, which led me to stumble on this amazing film. This artistic film is a must watch for anyone who loves both film and music. This live music documentary features The Spinto Band behind the scenes at the Garden Center, the old home of Spintonic Productions. Nate Johnson’s vision and cinematic style makes this film even more attractive to watch, each song is blended into different cinematic worlds that are all condensed into just over 20min of film. The Spinto Band display how great of a band they truly are.

My favorite part of The Spinto Band: Everyone Got What They Wanted is around 12:00min mark when the film slowly transitions outside to The Spinto Band performing “Summer Grof“. In this version of the song, musicians Rick Flom, Brian Langan and Gretchen Lohse are featured on the vocals, which came out so beautifully. Playing music outside, bundled up in the cold, tea and coffee in hand, with incredible musicians doing what they do and love best, is just the “chillest” experience to me. Enjoy this amazing film created by Nate Johnson and The Spinto Band.

Brian Langan

Brian Langan is a musician from Philadelphia, PA. He is more than a musician, he is witty, a true artist and a sex bomb! I was able to catch is fun, witty side in this interview. I highly recommend checking out his numerous projects and see how artistic and sexy he is. Brian really is an amazing musician and has a fabulous voice. HA!

Mandy: For our readers pleasure who is Brian Langan in a nutshell?

Brian: It's very tight and dark, it gets hot, real friggin hot!

Mandy: You are in a bunch of different music projects, can you describe them?

Brian: I play fuzzed out loud bass and do some singing about cosmic shit in Needle Points which an experiment in street level boogie.

I play ripper guitar and sing in Sweatheart which a dress up band that kinda sounds like 80's party movie rock.

I play guitar and LEAD SING in Langor which i guess you'd call my solo project. 60's fantasy pop/rock type stuff.

I also play dumb guitar and sing in Kock107 a classic rock band in the vein of Foreigner, Bryan Adams and Thin Lizzy. We're a very sexy band!

Mandy: Have you always wanted to be a musician?

Brian: Not always, I wanted to be a basketball player. I took "David" as my confirmation name after my favorite basketball player David Robinson. Shockingly this basketball thing didn't pan out.

Mandy: Is your family supportive of you being an artist?

Brian: Extremely, they come to shows when they can and have always helped in whatever way they could. They're the best!

Mandy: How long have you been playing music?

Brian: Since I was 14 which is also my fav number, THANKS FOR ASKING!

Mandy: Are you on an indie label or DIY?

Brian: Indie/DIY

Mandy: What equipment do you use?

Brian: Bow, lava tipped arrow, Dagger of Fierce Desire, Strat of Warborn Souls. Bweemstaff, Miller Lite!

Mandy: What musicians inspire you?

Brian: The Beatles, The Hollies, Marc Bolan, July, Donovan, MC5, The Lemon Pipers, Giorgio Moroder, Sweet, Bryan Adams, The Misfits. 

Mandy: What is your earliest memory with music?

Brian: I remember my dad playing the Imperial March on an unplugged electric guitar when I was playing with my Star Wars toys.

Mandy: Do you remember the first record/tape/CD you bought?

Brian: The first tape I HAD was a tape my dad got at a gas station called BAD BOYS OF ROCK, it featured BAD BOYS like Meatloaf and Eddie Money, he passed that one on to me. The first cd I owned was TLC's Ooooooh On The TLC Tip.

Mandy: Do you have an hidden talents?

Brian: I can make lazer noises, I can crack my gum at a wildly inappropriate volume and I have a really wide tongue.

Mandy: If you could be any fictional character who would you be and why?

Brian: Legolas, he can walk on snow without sinking in it and has really cool hair.

Mandy: If you could have a superpower what would it be?

Brian: To not worry.

Mandy: It is hard making money as an artist, what pays the bills?

Brian: Who said I pay the bills?

Mandy: What is the best advice you have been given?

Brian: There's a few:

My dad's senior quote was "Be yourself, who else can you be?" not sure if he made that up, but i like it

My ex girlfriend was interviewing Sgt Slaughter and I told her to tell him hello, he said to tell me "Chin up, chest out and God bless America"

Mandy: What advice can you give to other aspiring musicians (or artists in general)

Brian: Be genuine, be kind and pray for drink tickets.

Langor's Indie Rock Goodness

For years, Brian Langan has been providing Pennylvania music fans with his brand of indie rock. Langan, a Scranton native, now calls Philadelphia home and boasts a resume that includes The Sw!ms, stints with The Spinto Band, Sweatheart, and his solo project Langor. Sweatheart recently opened for The Darkness in New York City at Terminal 5, just weeks after Langan sang backup for them during a Radio 104.5 studio session.

On December 19th, Langor will perform at the 2012 Philebrity awards, where he has also been nominated for "Breakout artist of the year." You can cast your vote by clicking here.
