walked the fire scar today from the 2017 wildfire. despite it being basically in town (5 minute walk from home), it hasn’t been cleaned up and trails or roads are still blocked. it’s amazing to see the beauty in nature thriving despite the damage.

Some afternoon pics of the #BrianHeadFire I took near Cascade Falls. There was some logging going on so I was able to find a clearing (good logging, thinning but not clear cutting). I did some time lapse photography of the smoke billowing up. Check the link in my profile too see it. (at Cedar Breaks National Monument)
Not my image. This was taken by the Garfield County Fire Department. This is in an area of the fire just recently opened. The Brian Head fire is now 65% contained and has burned roughly 90 square miles (60,000 acres). It's sad to see the destructive power of a wild forest fire but it's natures way of cleaning out the old and making room for new growth. . #forestfire #wildfire #utah #southernutah #burned #charred #remains #victim #deer #utahwildfire #brianheadfire #ironcounty #garfieldcounty #cedarcity #parowan #brianhead

I woke up this morning in this incredible orange glow due to the haze caused by the Brian Head fire in Utah. My heart aches for the earth and my thoughts and prayers are with the firefighters diligently trying to contain it. I'm about 90 miles away. #brianheadfires #southernutah #fire #mancausedfire #feelingill #ivinsutah #nature #brianhead #brianheadfire
