kareena knew it, she was lucky compared to others. she had it better than some of her peers, and she recognized that privilege. but if she could trade her family life for a “normal” one, she would in the quick snap of a finger.

kareena’s family was pretty much old money. she came from a long line of doctors in almost every medical field, and they own so many private hospitals and clinics in many countries. if you happen to hear the Puri family name, you probably would associate it with these things: a big hospital that you probably drove by with your car or a surgeon that your doctor wanted to refer you to.

every child in the family was expected to go to med school. it was the only way to keep the family legacy and pride going. of course, the more new generations came in the family, the more there were those who decided to take different fields of work instead. and of course, the eldest members in the family would always voice their disappointment in them, and would always make sure to remind them that they’re a disgrace no matter how successful they are in whatever field they went into.

kareena didn’t know what she was doing at the young age of sixteen. her parents would boast about how she would be a successful doctor when she grows up, just like her older siblings, and how her younger siblings would be the same as well. all kareena did was nod and smile. she didn’t want this.

the thing is, she was a naturally great student with really good grades, and yet her parents would be disappointed if she got a B+ or even an A- on a subject every once in a while. she didn’t get it. she thought she was doing her best. although the complaining about her report cards was getting a bit too much coming from her mother, and that’s when kareena really started to not give a fuck. yes, she still got good grades for her own sake, but she started to do whatever she wanted. she hung out with kids her parents would call a bad influence, and started to skip some school days or go to parties on the weekends. it was fun and liberating to her.

once her senior year was over and kareena was graduated with a high school diploma, her family was back at it again, trying to get her to apply to all the notable medical schools out there. she had protested about it, and family fights ensued, and with some threats, kareena was forced into applying. next school year, she was in another city, studying to be a surgeon, and her mind wasn’t into it at all. she only lasted one year before she decided to drop out and transfer to FIDM, a fashion school in L.A, instead.

kareena has always been into fashion. the way she dressed would tell you so. how she was always on the latest fashion, and how she would have so many sketchbooks and scrapbooks of fashion related things. she loved making her own clothes at home with her sewing machine. her mother would tell her that it’s a nice hobby, but she never guessed that her daughter would want to pursue it as a career. the color drained out of her face when she saw what kareena had done. she was angry and disappointed, and mostly worried about what the rest of the family would say, more than she cared about her daughter’s wants and needs. kareena, however, didn’t care. she was happy. she moved out to be closer to campus, and soon enough after graduation, she left everything behind and decided to go somewhere quieter: port briar, maine. this was completely different from everything she was used to, it was so quiet and small, but she loved it. she finally feels at peace with herself.

now, kareena is a successful fashion designer. she started an online business, and it has been booming, with fashion influencers promoting her work. she was hoping that someday she would get to do bigger things, like making custom items for celebrities and being featured in fashion magazines and fashion weeks. she could only wish and work towards that for now.

and even with all of that, even when kareena had picked herself up from the ground on her own and built her own business, her family still didn’t approve. they still pretended to care about her, but would make sure to remind her of how disappointed they are in her and the path she’d taken. they would sit and wonder what it would’ve been like if she continued to go to med school, and how successful she could’ve been. and all kareena would do in response is smile and say that she’s successful anyway, but at least now she’s doing something she actually loves.

she currently lives alone port briar, with her rented home facing the beach. exactly how she likes it. it was different and definitely not lavish like her home growing up, but she liked it better. she could’ve lived somewhere more expensive, but she didn’t want that.

owns a studio where she usually works. there is more space for her there than what she used to have at home. all the design process, sewing and even photoshoots take place there usually

BACKGROUND & PERSONALITY:

to  keep  it  short  and  sweet. julian  was  born  in  spain... his  parents  were  young  and  broke  and  they  already  had  one  child  to  take  care  of. julian  wasn’t  exactly  planned  and  so  they  gave  him  up  for  adoption.. and  that’s  how  he  ended  up  with  the  blake’s.  they’ve  been  living  in  port  briar  for  ages,  well  on  the  outskirts  in  some  over  the  top  mansion.  both  of  his  dad’s  succesfull  in  their  respective  fields,  a  politician  and  a  lawyer.  which  would  explain  his  compromised  moral  compass....

he  was  definitely  an  easy  child  growing  up,  he  didn’t  get  in  much  trouble  and  just  kinda  took  care  of  himself,  very  independent  from  the  get  go. could  easily  find  entertainment  when  bored,  generally  dealt  very  well  with  boredom  tbh. it’s  supposedly  very  healthy  and  all  that.

around  his  teenage  years  he  started  becoming  more  influenced  by  his  peers  and  although  he  still  mostly  steered  clear  of  scandals  and  drama….you  could  always  kind  of  find  him  adding  fuel  to  the  fire. man  the  guy  loves  gossip  and  watching  people  fight  each  other  as  long  as  they’re  not  fighting  him.

anyway,  from  a  young  age  he  was  playing  soccer,  sort  of  a  homage  to  his  birthplace. he  was  good  and  he  only  got  better  with  age  but  he  also  grew  a  lot  more  distracted. see  he’s  not  really  that  good  at  fully  applying  himself  to  things  he’s  kind  of  the  master  of  half-assing  things  and  getting  away  with  it. king  of  bullshitting. truly  he’s  just  lazy  but  he’s  great  at  putting  others  to  work.

it’s  kind  of  how  he’s  gotten  through  college  so  far  as  well. with  a  major  in  political  science,  and  honestly  a  weirdly  good  business  sense,  he  could  probably  sell  sand  in  sahara. he’s  arrogant  but  just  charming  enough  to  get  away  with  it,  even  if  he’s  lying  through  his  teeth,  he  has  a  certain  way  of  sarcasm  that  most  people  don’t  catch  on.

he’s  on  the  whitby  soccer  team,  has  gotten  offers  to  play  professionally  but  it’s  like...a  lot  of  work  and  he’s  just  extremely  indecisive. so  when  whitby  approached  him  about  doing  his  masters  there,  he  kinda  accepted  without  even  really  thinking  about  it. kind  of  just  an  insane  excuse  to  put  off  making  a  decision  for  another  two  years. he  somehow  gets  away  with  half-assing  soccer  as  well  -  despite  actually  loving  it  -  showing  up  late  to  practice  or  with  hangovers  or  not  showing  at  all.

likes  to  be  the  smartest  person  in  the  room,  albeit  he’s  most  likely  not,  but  don’t  get  me  wrong  he’s  definitely  smarter  than  he  looks,  and  it  won’t  stop  him  from  acting  like  it. very  business  savvy,  knows  how  to  charm  a  crowd  even  if  that  crowd  is  simply  a  bunch  of  rich  old  men  gathered  around  a  table  in  a  conference  room. twisting  people’s  words  and  actions  to  his  benefit  is  also  kind  of  a  specialty  of  his. —   tbh  he’s  fairly  easy  to  deal  with  when  you  know  him,  he  may  think  he’s  super  clever  and  mysterious  but  he’s  just  kind  of  a  fool. his  humor  is  very  specific  and  yet,  you’ll  find  him  with  a  smile  on  his  lips  like  most  of  the  time,  even  if  it  is  one  you  kinda  wanna  smack  off  of  his  face. has  a  tendency  to  laugh  at  the  wrong  times  though,  don’t  take  it  ill…it’s  not  you. it’s  him.

drives  an  aston  martin  vantage  f1  edition  because  he’s  got  expensive  taste  okay,  although  he  obviously  has  several  choices  including  his  beloved  motercycle.  the  aston  martin  is  his  preferred  though.

he  lives  in  a  nice  apartment  on  high  street,  with  his  two  year  old  dobermann  called  zeus.  it’s  his  most  used  phrase  “  can’t,  gotta  take  zeus  for  a  walk  ”

Cassandra moved to Port Briar when she was 12 years old, after being fostered and adopted by Arjun and Matteo Greco.

She spent her teen years living rather spontaneously which occasionally got her into trouble sometimes but not enough to tarnish whatever reputation she was building. Cassie was very outgoing and charming which gained her quite a bit of attention from people throughout the years, which she couldn’t deny she really enjoyed.

She knew early on that when she graduated she wanted to go to school for culinary arts somewhere out of town which her dad’s were completely supportive of.

Before getting the chance to go to school however, Cassandra got pregnant at 19 and she ended up staying home in Port Briar to have and take care of the baby.

Since she had her son, she’s been slowly working on changing her ways of being a spontaneous party girl to being a responsible young mother. She still enjoys going out but can sometimes end up taking the role of the “mom friend” if things start getting a little too out of hand.

Now, Cassandra juggles working at a bakery in town as well as taking care of her 5 year old son Julian.

          HALLE BAILEY, CIS WOMAN, 20, SHE / HER   ⟨  ✽  ⟩   hey, you haven’t bumped into nia williams lately, have you ? they have been living here for the past two years ( during the school semester ) and during that time, locals have gotten to know them as quirky & charming.  a little birdie told me they can be quite vain & devious  though. explains why they’re an architecture major at whitby university. they really remind me of field time at six am and still making your eight am looking flawless, spandex shorts under short skirts paired with high heels you can run in, && impeccably manicured hands handling any power tool with ease. if you’re ever looking for them, i bet you can find them around the retro room. 

HIGHLIGHTS...

          the daughter raised by a single father, a former nhler, though also with the help of his teammates’ wives and girlfriends — a unique situation that shaped her life ; a lover of beauty, no matter what it may be, but a little obsessed with it when it comes to herself ; tiny but with a nose for scoring, speed, and elusiveness on the field that’s made her a two time women’s soccer mvp and she’s only a junior ; sometimes comes across as a little ditzy and airheaded, but though she has the look of a girly-girl, looks can be deceiving and certainly don’t underestimate her ; has an incredible knack for turning old things into new and desired items, mostly with regards to furniture and knicknacks.

THE STORY...

— cole harbour, nova scotia, the birthplace of sidney crosby the next one, eight years later — nathan mackinnon, and six years after that : nia williams. her birth was unplanned, however ; her mother only twenty and working towards med school. her father a halifax mooseheads player just having fun at her conception, now twenty-two and playing out his dreams in the nhl with the montreal canadians.

— things always work out in the end, though, and at twenty-two her father became her sole guardian and growing up quite a bit in the process, her mother vanishing from her life at that point and never re-entering.

— she was technically raised by a single father, but she was also perhaps raised by the veterans on the team and most importantly, the wives and girlfriends of her father’s teammates whose care she was left in the care of during games. it was them that taught her the things that her father couldn’t, and nia never wanted for her mother, that space happily and willingly filled by almost two dozen women who were older sisters, mothers, aunts... they were family.

— but even with all the make up and fashion advice, nia was very much her father’s daughter as well : crawling around the outdoors, going one-on-one on the ice, swimming in the ocean and still looking flawless while doing it. michael williams was a good father in the end, and grew into the role.

— she play hockey and soccer growing up, seeming to have a nose for offense, as elusive on skates as in cleats. nia could’ve been great at both sports, was great at both sports, but in the middle of high school she made the switch to focus on soccer full time. her passion for the ice remained, but the opportunities in soccer were stronger — and she loved the outdoors, loved the field in the early hours of morning.

— it was in the summer after grade 11 that she was offered a scholarship from whitby university to play women’s soccer ( amongst others ), but whitby fit the bill for what she wanted, and port briar reminded her a lot of home in cole harbour with the chilly sea. so after graduation, she was off to whitby to play soccer.

— on the college scene, it became obvious that nia simply put, was a star. a small but ever elusive forward who had speed that didn’t seem possible with her stature and an ability to score like no one else. the campus loved her, the team loved her, and opposing teams loved to hate her on the field. she was named mvp of the team as a freshman, a feat she would repeat her sophomore year as well. she’s currently gunning for her third.

MISC...

— architecture feels like an odd choice for those who don’t know nia well. she tends to come across as a little bit of an airhead, ditzy, not always the greatest with common sense. but she is actually quite book smart and sometimes, the ditziness is just a bit of an act. she had fostered a bit of FASCINATION with arenas having been in so many growing up, she began to harbor a desire to design one ( and to do it better ). sketching had been something that held her attention when she needed to be seated and still, and that fit in perfectly. after entering whitby undeclared, nia found herself drawn to the architecture department and program, officially declaring at the end of her freshman year.

— nia is hardly ever still : tapping fingers, jumping knees, sitting and then standing. she was diagnosed with adhd when she was seven. she is medicated for it now, but it also still manifests in attention deficient for her, leaving a wake of unfinished projects in her wake. sports had been one of the few things that held her attention, kept her occupied, and one of the few things she worked to hone her skills in.

— because of her tendency to jump from one thing to another, it’s no surprise she had a litany of hobbies that she’s tried : you name it, she’s likely tried it once. everything from yoga, to sewing, to painting, to rock climbing. in some ways it’s made her a bit of a jack of all trades, though she always comes back to soccer in the end. 

— however, one of thing did stick, kinda. in high school she took a woodworking class and from that spawned a hobby of furniture upcycling. her father had always been good with his hands and she knew her way around power tools, still does. she takes great pride in being able to fix things to be usable again, and loves to shop around the retro room or drive around port briar looking for things left at the curb. it can’t be a huge project though, like anything, if it’s not done in one go, chances are she may never return to finish the project. 

— she lives in an off-campus apartment this year after spending the first two in dorms. she’s looking forward to having her own space and kitchen ( even with roommates ).

— rigid schedules help her to keep organized when her natural tendency is to fall back into messiness and chaos. living with a neat roommate has helped her in some ways, because though messiness is her tendency, she finds that neatness helps her to keep focused and on track. being reminded to clean every week has been good for her.

— her favorite color is red and she has a penchant for red nails and red lipstick.

— her father is now an assistant hockey coach in the ncaa, but not at whitby. she sees him when that school in in town though she’s always rooting for whitby. her summers are spent back in cole harbour and she is still in touch with some of the wives and girlfriends who she’d been so close to.

— she’s an early bird, as odd as it is. she’s always loved sunrises over the atlantic ocean. you can find her either on the field or out for a run in the early hours, and then when the snow flies, likely doing yoga.

— on the surface nia is very much a pretty girl. always looking flawless, a little ditzy, a little shallow. her smile is her weapon and she uses it to get people on her side. she likes people to like her, though one might hesitate to truly classify her as a nice girl or a mean girl. she ends up falling somewhere in the middle as most people do, never mean without cause but not friends with anyone. her enemies aren’t always obvious, something kept under wraps with petty glares and muttered comments. she doesn’t go looking for trouble, but if it crosses her path she meets it head on. her soccer star status has endeared her with some and made her just as many enemies, especially on their rival teams. she’s generally sweet to everyone she meets, but wrong her and she’ll be the first to be shit talking behind your back.

BIOGRAPHY.

i. you were born with the weight of the world upon your shoulders, at least that’s how it often felt to you. hyun-ki and you were the excitedly awaited first children of your parents, the new stars on the jeong family heaven and stars are obviously expected to shine as brightly as possible. your parents take the lead, your father with his successful real estate development company and your mother, a politician. not only where you expected by them to blossom under the excellent care they offered, you were also always aware of the risk of each of your mistake being broadcast to the public, due to the notoriety of your family in south korea and seoul specifically. most of the time the press left you alone but the children of such high profile individuals messing up would obviously be delicious to all of them.

ii. messing up was not an option, instead you quickly became the over-achiever your parents had banked on. not only were your grades at the absolute top of your class but you also picked up the violin, horseback riding and swimming (lol all the rich kid shit u feel me). later on you became student body president - an absolute dream child or at least that is what you exuded. they say pressure creates diamonds and you certainly looked shiny from the outside, but inside you always felt like you were performing. painting the pretty picture for the whole world to see, while inside you mostly felt a glaring emptiness. and emptiness that should become accompanied by a raging anger. when you were thirteen you came back with the blood of one of your classmates on your fists. the incident was kept under wraps, some money was paid to keep said classmate’s family quiet and you were dragged to see a doctor. what is wrong with her ?  what is wrong with our perfect daughter ?  anger managment issues. that is the diagnosis you got and a list of recommended activities you might pick up in order to get a grip on your little... problem. one of them was drumming, something you’d otherwise never been allowed to do and that quickly became your favorite hobby.

iii. graduating high school at the top of your class and without any further incidences, you were still in your parents good graces. however, you felt increasingly restless, unhappy with your life that felt like a charade and so you begged them to let you study abroad. there were too many eyes on you here to ever be able to express yourself or figure out who that person even was. luckily your parents thought studying abroad would make for a positive experience for their daughter and so you ended up an architecture student at whitby’s. there you finally got to live life the way you wanted to, in a country where nobody had ever heard your parent’s names - and even if, you changed your own. dawn.

HEADCANONS.

character wise she quite controlling and ambitious, which can be difficult for social interactions, especially since she is absolutely unwilling to compromise in her ideals or to admit defeat. also she is pretty smart which can add to the intimidating effect.on the positive side, she has quite the dry sense of humor, can be incredibly charming if she wishes so. has absolutely insane stage presence.

is having the time of her life in port briar, she is now dressing completely different than she used to at home ( sort of goth gf meets e-girl meets tomboy influences ).  she has also started expressing her own thoughts and opinions a lot... most would say too much.

AH YES R.A.D. dawn is the youngest member of the band and their drummer as well as rapper, whenever they need it. just like at uni, she’s known exclusively as dawn in this context bc she’s still kinda trying to avoid people back at home finding out eek (hello ms hannah montana lol) - esp since r.a.d.’s specialty is angry feminist punk rock.

studies architecture and actually rlly loves it? like she will def geek out about roman/greek architecture if you give her the chance.

dawn of justice was funnily enough the name of her first horse back home, so do with that info as you will.

she works at xp… which might damage their business if we’re being real because can’t you just see her looking down upon all the gamer boys? i certainly can

she has the kind of personality that makes her a natural leader even though? she is an introvert? so yeah, she does prefer her solitude most of the time but don’t expect her to keep her mouth shut in social situations.

she sleeps very very little, which only adds to her high-strung personality. most of those sleepless nights are either spent performing with the band or studying at bluey’s.

when speaking she does have a slight korean accent which you, however, can’t hear when she’s rapping.

WANTED CONNECTIONS.

roommate/flatmate — bc who wouldn’t want to share their place with a drummer ?  well, you’re warned now but yes i would definitely love for her to have one or multiple people she lives with. could be they get along great and hang out on the couch regularly or maybe they fight about absolutely everything. we love either.

enemies / antagonists —  basically, dawn does tend to be a rude lil dickish so she’d def have quite some people who dislike her. for example that could be somebody she made fun off at xp or maybe somebody she fully stomped into the ground during class discussion or one of their extracurricular activities.

study friend — somebody who likes to study through nights alongside her. this is a weird friendship, bc they don’t speak a whole lot and it’s more like an agreed upon silence that they both enjoy.

former hook ups — she did hook up with some people, especially just after she had gained her newfound freedom. this was definitely just casual, especially on her part. clean, no strings attached fun. well, unless maybe it wasn’t for your muse ?!  that could be a fun option as well. open for all genders.

the rare friends — this is the exclusive group of people she likes to be friends with asdfahd. it just be like that but ya def hmu and give my antisocial gal some friendss. maybe somebody who is really into music and they got into contact through that, or perhaps architecture. or maybe the one xp regular she actually likes.

ex — she was in one relationship ever since coming to the us and it was honestly never supposed to work out well. i kinda want this to have strong doomed from the start but both tried to make it work for a little while until it got increasingly toxic and they eventually broke it off. would love to brainstorm this. open for all genders.
