Slipping into the Halloween season early with a #filmfriday that is one of my favorites for this time of year. The Brides of Dracula (1960) offers one of the best kinds of spooky 60s vibes— campy, velvety, jewel-toned, and covered with cobwebs! Although the story pertains to familiar Dracula narratives, it still comes off entertaining and is strong enough to carry the extravagant aesthetics. Visually, the movie is littered with style goals— decor, fashion, and makeup for sure— all of which create an immersive atmosphere that is hypnotic and indulgent. It boasts an array of epic architecture, magical interiors, lavish costumes, and, of course, healthy doses of vampire vixen glamour! I love the color palettes used, especially those in the beginning that mixed blood reds with rich purples. The visual textures really stand out, too, and make the film even more satisfying to watch. It is easy to get lost in all the sparkling cut crystal goblets, rich velvets, illuminated stained glass windows, and natural elements galore. The Brides of Dracula perfectly captures the magical, decadent, eerie vibes that I look to indulge in, especially during the Autumn months! Definitely check it out! 🍁 #bridesofdracula
