Incredible tropical bridge walk over clear water mobile wallpaper

Four years ago today, I took this photo while standing about 1/3 of the way across the Mackinac Bridge.

I've never experienced anything quite like watching the sun come up over the water while standing 220 ft in the air, breeze playing with my hair.

I can't wait to do it again.

06/22/22 - New River Bridge, WV - WE DID THE BRIDGE WALK - Here we are, both of us on the ‘fear of heights’ spectrum, walking the narrow catwalk across the New River Gorge underneath the New River Bridge, the longest single span arch bridge in the world. Even though we are both harnessed to an overhead cable and had a logical understanding that we couldn’t fall over the railing, some other part of our brains made us fearful and shaky at the start of our 3,000 foot walk on the two foot wide catwalk. The slight sway of the catwalk from the bridge traffic above and the people walking with us kept us on edge and took some getting used to. And finally, there was the ever present fear of dropping the iPhone into the river while taking pictures. For me, it wasn’t until we were about half way across that I was able to relax and just enjoy the moment along with the incredible views of the world below us. My favorite: watching the river rafters negotiate the white water rapids from directly overhead. All in all, a great experience we’ll never forget ….. and we found a way to overcome our fears. Bravo!
