“A HEALTHY HARBOR STARTS HERE”
by Bridget Cimino
“I was here when the neighborhood was at its peak” 75-year-old East Baltimore resident told The Baltimore Sun. “It went down to nothing. Now you look at something like this, and it tells me the neighborhood is coming back. It lightens my day.” Bridget Cimino’s mural at McElderry and N. Collington is the first of five new murals being created as part of the Watership Partnership’s Healthy Harbor Initiative—transforming the community as well as raising awareness of the Harris Creek watershed which traverses 17 Baltimore neighborhoods. Painted after extensive efforts were undertaken to clean up this empty lot, Cimino says she “wanted people to realize that what you put into the ground goes into the harbor and affects the birds and wildlife.” @ciminobridget @healthyharborbaltimore
