Booker Atwood. Booker was taken from his mother at the age of five. She was titled unfit due to her memory loss and since he had no other family he was put into the system. Since nobody wanted the mixed boy with the nappy hair Booker never was adopted. Instead was bounced from foster home to foster home. For some reason, Booker never seemed to catch a break from the shitty foster homes. He was abused not only physically but sexually by the families he was put in. Nobody saw the white foster parents as cruel. Why would they? They were giving the colored boy a roof and food. As Booker grew older he began to express all his anger by boxing. By the time he was sixteen, he was on the streets. During the day he was going from school to work and late at night he was boxing for money in a warehouse. It wasn’t until he was seventeen that he put the boxing away and started finding other ways to reduce all the anger. He began to paint. Whatever the surface rather it was paper, canvas, or city streets he made his mark. Booker wasn’t good at communication and it was hard for him to find trust in people let alone let them in. So by his art, he expressed himself.

Lina: I knew you’d be on board.

Truthfully, I was really excited about having two new people around. I mean I loved how it’s been just the three of us but sometimes it’d get lonely when grams wasn’t here. Yeah, I had a group of friends but when they leave it tends to get boring.

Dahlia: So tell me about them?

Lina: Well, we are getting a seventeen year old boy names Booker. He’s been in the foster system majority of his life and the past couple of years has been living on the streets. 

Dahlia: That’s terrible.

Lina: And the other is a seventeen year old girl from Forgotten Hollows.

Dahlia: Wait, is she a vampire? Because I thought they weren’t allowed out of Forgotten Hollows.

Lina: She is. Our government wants things to be more equal. So by us taking in this girl from the orphanage in Forgotten Hollows it will kinda show us if the vampires can live as one with the humans.

Dahlia: So it’s basically a test?

Lina: I mean in away it could look like that. By her coming to live with us she will be given rules that were written up by the Governor. In a way this is kinda like a new program the government is creating. By the vampires following the rules and lets say passing the test will show if they are qualified to live outside the walls of the Hollows.

Dahlia: So this one girl is basically responsible for her kind to have a normal life? That’s a lot for a teenager to have on their back. I mean what if she fails or breaks a rule? We send her back?

Lina: I understand your concerns but I truthfully don’t have much of a say in this. It’s gonna be hard for her but she’s gonna have you and I to help her along the way.

Dahlia: Okay, well I just hope she wants to be helped.

Lina: This worked for the Aliens this will work for the Vampires. We just need to have hope. One day all of the supernaturals will come out of hiding and be able to walk the same streets as us humans do. 

Dahlia: Hopefully one day. When are they to arrive here?

Lina: I have to call and confirm and then go over some legal paperwork but it could be any day this week.

Dahlia: Okay, well I will help you with whatever you need. I know we have the upstairs room set up as a guest room and we have a room in the basement but once they arrive maybe we can learn their hobbies and make it more their own than just a spare bedroom. 

Lina: Indeed. I should more later tonight about them. Tomorrow we can go to the store after school and pick up something for them.

Dahlia: Sounds like a plan.
