waking up, and i should not trust my waking brain to remember things right, because there i am second-guessing what i know about beloved opera arias and the scenes they are in because it is a blur that goes by when you have seen a show maybe once, and you also suffer from somewhat bad memory disease (adhd)

This is me KNOWING the context of 'Largo al factotum' from "The Barber of Seville" , of which it and of itself is a very fun song and is intended to be, but I'm also possibly misremembering how it was interpreted.

But I DO remember how I saw 'Nessun dorma' from "Turandot".

But see, it's like my brain feels like a giant meatball, because I've seen a few operas in person and will probably recognize I have heard a song, but it is SO FUNNY how sometimes I remember the song better than the scene OR the scene better than the song. I remember the scene from "Turandot" better than the song, for example.

Rey Dau and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good Very Bad Day

Heeeey it's Monster Hunter Wilds Diary time, again! Last night i was out doing hunts with my BFF, and we decided to go for Rey Dau.

And, this poor wyvern, had what has got to be the worst day ever.

As soon as I roll up to where Rey Dau is, after joining the quest, a BUNCH OF ROCKS all immediately fall on its head! I don't think anyone pulled any Slingers to drop them, so I think Rey Dau backed into the pillar and down the rocks went, lol.

Next thing that happened is that we managed to knock this monster off the cliff.

So, as you do, Rey Dau flies outta here, and heads to the Plains in, what, Area 7?

So we're fighting Rey Dau, like as one does, while this poor wyvern sometimes gets entangled in trees, or gets a horn unceremoniously bonked off by an oversized hammer.

And then. A pack. Of like, 5 Doshaguma arrive. And they make a beeline to our fight, doing as Doshaguma do (they like to bully), and they just start wailing on Rey Dau like there's no tomorrow.

Would it surprise you to know that Rey Dau decided to up and fly away again? Like, I would do the same! I don't even remember if it tried to shoot them with the railgun, it just was like, "NAH, PEACE OUT".

So Rey Dau flies all the way over towards its nest in Area 17, but my BFF and I are Hunters, and so we're chasing it. I felt pretty bad for this particular Rey Dau, so as soon as I heard that it was weakened, I popped out my Pitfall Trap, and just threw a sleep bomb all over to capture Rey Dau, instead.

And like, my BFF and I were laughing the entire time, like, "Dang, this guy's day really just SUCKS".

Also, somewhere in the midst of all the Hunts we did last night, I got Hunter Rank 81. Yay!

hi i live in mh wilds now, and i just hit hunter rank 7, and beat the beginner story, and

THERE IS A LOT GOING ON IN MY BRAIN RIGHT NOW, AND I NEED TIME TO MENTALLY DIGEST THIS ALL, BUT

dealing with the implied horror of something and other things mentioned in story, and now i am rotating so many things in my mind

I'm talking about Hork-Bajir again with my BFF, and look, I love them. They're honestly one of the most impressive alien races in all of Animorphs.

They know three languages! They're pretty fast and very strong! They're mostly not inquisitive, curious people, but that's OK! You don't have to be!

They somehow persist after YEARS of brutal slavery, and losing their home, losing each other, suffering a *chemical weapon* in the form of a quantum virus, and attempted cultural genocide!

The Hork-Bajir are amazing resilient people, and they also are just, you know, guys. A race of himbos. But being "considered big and dumb" and actually being those things are two different things.

They're not toddlers or children, they're alien immigrants, who are mind-control slaves, so simply existing is very difficult.

(There's a LOT OF COOL ALIENS in Animorphs! Like the Leeran, the Chee, and the Helmacrons, but I readily attached to the Hork-Bajir very early on, and said, "THESE GUYS".)
