oh hiro im getting so bored now
natsu really had the potential to be such an amazing character with deep issues about his identity, self-love and acceptance. this was even hinted at in dragon cry with him losing his sense of self and having the person nearest and dearest to his heart ground him again. this whole narrative that natsu’s issues have been solved with a simple,’im human so idc😜’, is so infuriating now.
i just don’t undestand. why make natsu E.N.D when you’re only going to show it for all of 5 minutes, and then never show it or mention it again? why make him E.N.D if you arent willing to show the real troubles that come with finding out your entire life has been a lie? the fact that so many other characters have shown growth within themselves compared to who they were in earlier seasons, yet natsu is still being the same douchebag with an overwhelming ego that thinks he can fight anything and everything no sweat, no help, is so disappointing.
we have an entire redemption arc for gajeel surrounding him becoming a better person and realising love was what he needed to improve, wether familiar or romantic, is so well thought out. same with gray, seeing him go from being somebody that never really understood his actions and words could hurt somebody and constantly presenting a cold attitude to others around him, to blossoming and becoming a real team player and becoming softer and kinder to the people in his life is also so beautiful.
so if other characters can show real improvement as they grow with age and maturity, why can’t natsu? why are we keeping natsu as the same moody, annoying ‘younger brother’ type of character when he has so much potential to become a better person?
for natsu to finally realise and understand that he infant isn’t okay and his feelings of not belonging or self loathing are growing, and therefore starting to fall apart and reach out for help would also make his character so beautiful. for us, and other guild members, to see natsu go from being an arrogant, cold individual that only spent time with happy and all but ignorned the rest of his family, to somebody that is open about his feelings and leaned on those around him for help would improve him so much.
there is so much to do with natsu’s character and so it makes me so sad to see him continue being so infuriating in new chapters, please give my man the redemption he deserves so much :(
