With a guitarist – The Rev – from faux-punk pantomine band Towers of London in their midst it would be easy to write off The Howling as similarly inauthentic schlock rockers. This couldn’t be further from the reality. They are perhaps the most real and dangerous rock and roll bands we've seen for quite a while – it might not be too much of an exaggeration to say this might have been what seeing Guns n’ Roses in 1986.
Having never heard any of their music, we had no idea what we were going to get. What arrived was a dizzying combination of breakneck punk’n'roll, electronic beats and wild eyed showmanship. Pits opened up almost immediately and couldn't stop. The Rev’s solos were note perfect even when crowdsurfing and singer Blacky impressed with both his voice and stage presence. This band is vital… it’s now… it’s wow. If The Howling aren't on your “must see” list for 2013 and beyond then get your head examined 9/10
