Green Mountain Avengers Origins-Personnel File 10

Briana Morin was a girl like many her age, socially reclusive, loving science fiction, comic books, and watching anime.  She followed the exploits of the X-Men at a young age, gasping in wonder at their incredible abilities, wishing fervently, if secretly, for her own mutant powers to awaken.

But puberty came and went, the period where most people develop their powers, but Briana just got breasts and started to notice boys, she didn't gain the power to control either.  So she quieted down, her dreams of becoming a superhero quashed, and began to focus more and more on her art, her shows, and her cosplaying.

It was during a journey to a cosplay convention in New York City that ehr life was flipped upside down, as the hotel that she was staying at was attacked by Rebel Yell, a tech using, Civil War uniform clad, backwoods, Southern villainess who didn't know Iron Man from Power Man, but was bound and determined to create a secessionist movement in the Southern states by killing the 'Yankee heroes', and had the sonic wave powers at her fingertips to attempt the unthinkable. 

While her friends ran for cover, Briana, in her fem-Captain America costume tried to cover them in an act of bravery.  While Rebel Yell blasted at the dealers room, she charged at the villain, hurling her model shield.  Unfortunately, her high school didn't have advanced shield throwing techniques in its curriculum.  The shield bounced harmlessly off of a wall three feet away from Rebel Yell, who then turned her attention on the young woman who she thought must be Lady Liberty or something, another vestige of Yankee false ideals like equality and 'all men are created equal'.

Enraged, Rebel Yell turned her sonic cannons on the girl before her.  To both of their surprise, Briana didn't flinch, wasn't blown away by the sheer concussive force.  No, strange enough, she walked forward, ignoring the vibrations that were tearing up the dealers room floor.  Her cosplay began to tear, which only succeeded in making her angrier, and she raised a hand...

Later, it would be said by witnesses that Briana had hurled Rebel Yell into a wall, destroying her sonic apparatus.  The truth is a bit more embarrassing, as she simply walked up to the evil Southern belle and punched her repeatedly in the face.  Rebel Yell was to stunned to get the hell out of her way, to stubborn to beat a tactical retreat, and to stupid to fight back against the girl in the half-torn off Captain America costume.

When Rogue and Captain Marvel arrived, the two ladies discovered Briana standing over Rebel Yell, her fists still clenched, breathing hard.  When Briana saw Rogue, she did what anyone would do when they saw their childhood hero-she fainted.

When she came too, and discovered that yes, she had been a mutant all along, she just needed the right catalyst to activate her genes, she was over joyed.  Captain Marvel extended an invitation to join the 50-State Initiative, which she happily accepted.  One year later she graduated the program and joined up with the Green Mountain Avengers.

Today, Briana has honed her abilities, proving not only immune to sonic effects, but capable of creating constructs out of pure sonic energy, and is one of the few heroes on Earth who can stand up to the sheer power of Black Bolt.  Her secondary mutation renders her with the ability to become almost completely invisible as well, making her one of the core members of the GMA infiltration unit.

Back at the Cathedral, she leads outreach programs for Burlington' homeless, delivering blankets and food to those affected, staffing the cities homeless shelters along side other members of the GMA, earning her the affectionate moniker 'Saint Whisper' among her charges.  Though she is far more outgoing than she used to be, she is still very quiet, occasionally overawed by the people who know her name, and will still oft retreat to her quarters to watch her favorite shows with the close friends that she has made of her fellow members.

Powers And Abilities

Partial Invisibility: Whisper can become almost completely transparent, on par with S.H.I.E.L.D. camo technology, leaving only a faint outline of herself, which can barely be seen.

Sound Dampening: Possesses the ability to temporarily remove all sound within a ten by ten meter radius, rendering all within incapable of hearing.  She can project this cube up to fifty meters away.

Sonic Resistance: Can form semi-translucent energy constructs which can provide protection from sonic attacks, powerful enough to resist the force of concussive grenades.

Martial Proficiency: Skilled in combat with knife-gloves.

Levitation: Can utilize her sonic control to resemble flying up to fifty miles an hour by redirecting her power below her feet, moving through sonic propulsion.

Weaknesses: Socially shy, her sonic constructs can only obstruct sonic attacks or countermeasures.  Dislikes spiders.

Paraphernalia and Equipment

Knife-Glove: Worn on her left hand, these adamantium tipped spikes allow her to cut through most anything, while the glove prevents her from getting adamantium poisoning through prolonged exposure.

Special Box: Apparently utilizes the same technology as Honey Lemons purse, it is larger on the inside than the outside, and mostly used for storage.

Class II Tactical Equipment: Various pouches containing stun grenades, smoke grenades, rock salt mines, and a holy water micro-mister.

Armor: Ballistic protection of unknown design, primarily covers breasts, back, abdomen, and neck.  Protection significantly decreased on her arms (right arm is used for power manipulation, left for knife-glove and tactical equipment use) and her legs.
